We chose this hotel because of its location and it turned out that out choice was right. The hotel is located in the heart of the city. Just a stroll away from everything: Flinders station, Cathedral, Federation square, Southbank Yarra River, restaurants etc. China town is just few steps away. There are many shopping malls around such as: QV (which...

The room was a good value, good size - the king superior was booked. The walls are quiet thin, had a family next to us and the kids keep us up all night screaming. Not happy that the wifi was not complimentary it was only provided to people staying in the suites. Should be offered to all A-Club members. Good...

As many people said the location is great. In the middle of Melbourne CDB and just walking distance from China Town. In Melbourne, many hotel is very expensive but this one is perhaps value for money despite a great location. The room is clean, the pool is located the top of the building and warm enough to swim. The staff...

Hotel (Grand Mercure part of Accor) is situated right in the heart of Melbourne CBD close to main shopping areas, and in walking distance of Docklands, MCG etc. Big rooms with comfy bed, and also small couch and armchair. Tea and coffee facility which was handy. Hearty breakfast available in hotel dining room and quite cheap so good value there....

Right in the heart of town and close to Chinatown. Rooms clean and fairly spacious. Poor self serve breakfast but excellent restaurant staff. Front desk however were unhelpful to a few people in our party who requested assistance on different issues. Not an expensive hotel which is reflected in the feeling that it could do better.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
