Check in was quick and easy. Room was very clean though very small. Location is great, easy access to China Town restaurants, trams and shops. Service and meal in Cocoon Bar was very good, great value. Have stayed before and will stay again.

My wife and I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights recently whilst on a whistle-stop tour of Melbourne. The location was perfect for us ie. right in the heart of the city with most places in easy walking distance and ideally located for access to trams, buses and railway station. The only downside was the quality of our hotel...

I've stayed at the Welcome on at least a dozen occasions and probably always will. I've found that the staff do that little extra to make my stay happy. I love the location, so close to everything. I love the fact that the staff are so friendly and helpful. I can't wait to organise my next trip in 2013.

We stayed for 6 nights in this hotel. It is very good location in Melbourne CBD. The service is reasonable good. We can get everything we need near the hotel. The only thing annoying us is the poor sound-proofing of the rooms.

We stayed for a few nights the after the grand final. The first night we got upgraded to a King Room. I almost died when we got into the room and thought that I would hate to see what the standard room was like. The room size was ok for a night, it had a sink and microwave. The king...

I stayed in a standard room and chose to stay here due to the location, which is brilliant, a few blocks from Melbourne Central Station, almost next door to David Jones and Myer and a stones throw from the bigger train stations. But I wish I'd gone elsewhere. The room was incredibly small, I know it was budget and nothing...

We stayed for the AFL Grand Final weekend and booked at the last minute so this was all we could get. The location is great right in the middle of the CBD but the rooms are only of a basic standard. The hotel has no facilities such as room service, mini bar, pool or gym. We had a superior room...

Located right in the inner city precinct, this hotel is good value for money considering some of the others. Good place if you're heading out and don't want to drive home but don't expect heaps of in house services. Mini bars are replaced by outside vending machines(not a bad option - stops you snacking at 2am). I use this hotel...

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
