For a brief trip to Melbourne the Ibis had all that we needed - convenient location close enough to the city and some key sights, but not so in the thick of it that it's too noisy to get some sleep. It's located a block from the Queen Victoria Market (a must-do when visiting Melbourne) and its a 1min walk...

We chose to stay here because of the close proximity to the cabaret we were attending. When we arrived we were not only surprised to have an upgrade on our room, but having arrived to our room there was a bottle of bubbly and some chocolate treats. Friendly professional service, we would gladly recommend this hotel and will definitely be...

Located on the northern edge of the CBD the hotel is very easy to get to from the airport via the Skybus to Southern Cross Station and free shuttle to the hotel. The hotel is also 100 metres from the Queen Victoria Markets. We stayed 4 nights and had a standard room with a double and single in it and...

This is a great hotel. The room was quiet comfortable & staff were friendly & 'funny'. It was remarkable stay in all. It is walking distance from Old Melbourne Gaol, National Library of Victoria & Melbourne Museum. Unfortunately, our AC wasn't working properly & a staff member had to sort it out.

I really didn't like the room,we were 3 people and there was only one bedroom and i slept on the sofa. They told me that i had free wifi but i didn't and i had to pay 10 dollars. We were supposed to have a kitchen and the only thing that we had was a fridge and a microwave

My first stay here for 2 nights on 11th floor. Room clean and very comfortable. Quite room with good blinds. Breakfast also good. Close to everything and on free tram zone. Will definitely stay here again.

Accommodation was good. Room was Clean and comfortable. I wish there were extra bins though coz we only had small one in the toilet. Staff were friendly and helpful too. Breakfast was fine, not much options for buffet but it's only breakfast so don't expect much.. Location was okay, close to tram and only few minutes away from Melbourne Central...

Efficient & friendly staff, good food, good location, clean room, co-operation with check-in/out times all made the stay enjoyable. About the sixth or seventh stay over many years. There must be some good reason to keep staying here.

It is not in the middle of it, but in close proximity to Victoria market and free CBD tram zone. It is also just around the block from major car rental places in central Melbourne. This time we stayed at their smallest apartment. It was quite nice to have a separate bedroom from the sitting room for once. Layout is...

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
