I read mixed reviews about this hotel so it was with some trepidation that I booked a room. This is not a hotel to offer marbled foyers. The rooms are basic, the furniture cheap, the hallways like something out of a prison. But, the rooms are clean and comfortable, the hotel is very convenient to the CBD and station and...

This hotel is very conveniently situated. One block from Southern Cross Station, half a block from Bourke Street and the city is easily accessible on foot also. Our room was very basic. No where to put cases and only a very small hanging area. There was a desk and plastic chair, but no bedside lights. On first appearances the bathroom...

Was very close to Southern Cross station, a number of bars, eating and shopping opportunities right on the doorstep. Eithad Stadium is less than a 10min walk. The room we had was roomy enough for a double and single in it, although it was cool, the radiators were piping hot and needed to run the aircon to keep room at...

I stayed in this property on the night of 10/5/2013 on transit from Traralgon to Melbourne. The rooms are small, with just basic furniture and separate the bath room with a sliding doors which never locks!! There is a basic restaurant with just average break fast which costs 11 Australlian dollars! Lobby gives a free access to internet on wifi...

Location is great with public transport very close. It was clean and comfortable and value for money, however it was very noisy the passages are narrow so doors banging all night combined with guest coming and going all night and talking at the top of their voices we did not get any sleep. The hotel is not responsible for guest...

Staying at this hotel again due to its location. It met my needs to the Southern Cross Station with a short walk around the corner. Many times with my stay including this one, check in was easy but a little long to wait as reception was busy at 5pm. However a little disappointment this time were the room given was...

Excellent location with excellent, helpful staff. Two minute walk from free tram. Meals available in the hotel with awesome breakfast and dinner menu. Great location, close to everything including the Casino and Aquarium. Can't wait to go back.

The room was clean and quite spacious. The staff were very helpful. The room was a bit noisy as one of the windows was unable to be shut (double windows but the old one was unable to be closed) The main bed was 2 singles zipped together so when you rolled over you had a lump down the middle which...

For $80/night in Melbourne CBD it was good location for a solid price. The hotel is quite noisy with walls and ceiling paper thin. Bed wasn't very comfortable, but it was a single bed room. The water to the toilet, and gas to the heater were both turned off so I assume the room hadn't been used in a while....

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
