My wife & I stayed overnight for our wedding anniversary & thought this place was excellent. We bought a dinner & breakfast package & got a free upgrade to a premium spa suite! Staff were excellent & we were well looked after. Highly recommended

My mum and I stay here every November for 4 nights, have always had pleasant stays, this time we upgraded to a suite which made this trip even better then usual. The suites are much nicer then the normal rooms, not that we have ever had any problems with a normal room but will definitely be booking a suite from... More

The Rydges is well priced and in a good location in the eastern side of the CBD but it is definitely past its best. There were water stains on the carpet outside of my door, the screws on the toilet were loose, the bathroom suite was not up to much with a bad shower and the AC did not seem... More

Firstly they tried to overcharge me. Offered their 'conference rate' which was above what I'd seen online. I had to 'prove' the lower price by showing where I had found the cheaper price before they accepted it. Terrible service. Staying for a conference and forgot iPhone charger. Rang reception and their response was 'we might have one in reception, you'll... More

This hotel is nicely located in the CBD. The China Town is within a walking distance. Dining out options are available nearby, including an Indian Restaurant in the China Town. A shopping mall and a theater is located nearby. The room we stayed in was pretty ordinary. The hotel lobby is a bit stuffy, with a nice fire place. The... More

I arrived at 9am and was allowed to check-in right away (5 hours early). I was given a room on the top floor with a small bathroom but a great view. When the whistling through my window on the fist night made it almost impossible to sleep the hotel happily moved me to another room without any fuss. Check-out was... More

Located on the east side of the main CBD in the heart of the theatre district- rooms are reasonably priced but showing their age in comparison to the competition- tired decor, rooms sparsely furnished with worn older wooden fittings, and a cramped bathroom with an impossibly-placed toilet. Suites MUCH better furnished and laid out, well worth the extra cost. Breakfast... More

Lovely roof top pool. Easy walking distance to everywhere, including shopping Southbank, laneways, pubs, theatres and clubs. Tidy without being ostentatious. Service was excellent, room was always made up to be spotless. Will be back.

The hotel is in need of an update as it's looking a little worn and run down, but saying that, the views are awesome, the bed is super comfortable and it's always clean and tidy. Breakfast is great, and customer service is always 5 star! I stay here whenever we have an event because I can be guaranteed top quality... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
