We stayed here for one night and were given a complimentary upgrade (thank you very much). A great location near Southbank, as it's an easy walk. There is also a bottle shop opposite if you'd like to buy wine for your room. The suite we had was lovely; spacious, with a fully equipped kitchenette, breakfast table, steps up to the...

This is a unique building steeped in history. The experience of walking the wide corridors, spending time in the tri-level rooms or catching a drink or meal in the RAB lounge will leave you looking forward to your next stay at the Grand. Despite being at one end of the CBD the location of the Grand Is quite handy to...

Self-rated 5-star? Try 3 or 3.5. No sweeping reception area greets you - just a couple of small desks as a substitute. Adjacent to the train tracks; very noisy for most rooms. Very very high ceilings - but so what! Just make the rooms difficult to heat over winter. Beds are basic; the over-paid GM should stay in a real...

Love this place. Ate dinner in our room, food was absolutely delicious and service was fantastic, Bed is super comfy, like sleeping on a cloud. Checkout is 11am but when we asked for a 12 checkout it was not a problem and no extra cost. Would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful old Melbourne building. Recently renovated rooms done without much thought. Check-in staff excellent and friendly, but that's where it ends. Rude and un-helpful. When we get home, Visa hit with $30 extra charge we DID NOT incur and VERY difficult to be refunded. Still waiting. Yes, I'd go back as it's close to Etihad Stadium, but they can remove...

Stayed here on a recent trip to Melbourne, as the hotel is close to Southern Cross station and Etihad stadium (both walking distance). The hotel is full of old world charm, complete with leather batwing chairs, roaring fireplace and library next to reception. The rooms are loft apartment style with a full kitchen, large fridge and cooking utensils. The rooms...

I've stayed here four times, now, on business an pleasure trips, and will definitely be back. The location is great, the building is interesting, the rooms quirky but spacious, and the service and food are good. Last time I stayed the lift was being repaired and we had to se the freight elevator, but that was ok. Because the building...
