On this visit to Melbourne we decided to try a lower cost hotel in a good location, basically to just relax in after the day out and about. The location could not be better, right in the hub of beautiful Melbourne CBD. From the moment we checked in, being dropped off in a taxi, we were met by a very...

on my booking, i specifically requested to not be near the lift. We were allocated room 321 which is right beside the lift! No prior phone call to clarify With me.... Girls weekend in the city, nine girls, triple sharing. Fantastic location right in the middle of the CBD. Close to shops and restaurants. My only criticism is that we were not provided with the extra cups, glasses etc for the third person in each room.

This is a long overdue review, but as I am planning another Melbourne trip and considering staying here again, I have noticed that recent comments match the experience we had at the hotel. The location is superb especially if you are there during winter and it's raining. Then again. It rains all year in Melbourne! It's close to shops (David...

I would like to start by saying that The Causeway Hotel 275 Little Collins Street is in a fabulous location. On arriving we were offered an upgrade, we were very excited as this has never happened before anywhere. We were given room 521. As my friend and I entered the room which was spacious enough we then saw that there...

I stayed a couple of days here recently for work. The location got me in as it is right in the centre of Melbourne, but there is not much else to recommend. The entry to the hotel was not easy to find as it is a narrow lobby down a side lane. The reception staff were efficient but not overly...

Unless you spend a fortune, booking hotels are often a compromise. This one is smack in the City Centre. It has no parking, but we had no car. From our room we saw a courtyard, so no real view. It has no restaurant. The room we had was more than adequate, comfy bed, good storage, hot shower and the continental...

I agree with JudeH803. Perhaps embee10 got an updated room. Disappointed as I believe this is rated 3.5-4 stars or somewhere in that vicinity. My 13 year old daughter and I had 5 days in Melb in July 2014 & stayed here. Nice and close to everything, so we could walk or catch the trams everywhere. Check-in and staff were...

This hotel is at a great price in a great location but the hotel is a bit old and some work is required. The carpets in the hallways are very old and desperately need replacement and some work is required in the rooms. The room was clean and tidy and the bed was very comfortable. The room was quiet and...

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
