Renovate your apartments and clean them properly. Or put realistic pictures online so people know exactly what they are getting and don't get disappointed like we were. If cleanliness and space isn't an issue for people then the realistic photos won't matter. We feel deceived and very disappointed

I come to Melbourne regulary and I enjoy staying at Gordon Place. The rooms are cosy and give the feeling of a home away from home. There are loads of great restaurants and bookshops nearby and public transport is easy to access. I find the history of the building contributes ot my enjoyment and the staff are always helpful and...

Great location. Our 10 year old and 7 year old loved our stay. Everyone slept well. Near to some great restaurants and cafes (Mezzo on Little Bourke St is very close and Cumulus Inc on Flinders Lane was a short walk away). Just round the corner from 'Matilda' and a ten minute walk from the Melbourne Museum. The staff were...

Needs a refurbishment, without doubt the hardest most uncomfortable bed that I have ever slept in and that also applies to Gordon Place. I understand that refurb's cost a lot of money however to keep pace with all the new offerings is probably needs to be looks at otherwise it maybe too late to retain customers.

Avoid a basement room. The curtains in our bedroom did not block out the outside lights- on all night. This led to little sleep. Street level looked down into the room so this meant that the curtains could not be drawn for privacy during the day. This room is also noisy with passing pedestrian traffic from local bars late at night....

Great location, beautiful building and friendly staff! Unfortunately the apartment let us down. Beds too big for room so unable to open draws. Shower recess - not cleaned properly (hair in drain). shower curtain drawn makes it dark, peeling paint on floor. Servicing irregular and complimentary items not re-stocked automatically. Carpet needs replacing as lumpy - tripping hazard. No lift...

Will never stay there again. Refrigerator had no shelves. Ice wouldn't freeze, anything in fridge DID freeze. Reception on another property. Bad signage. No help with bags and only access to room by stairs. Amenities (dishwashing powder etc) in packs that had been opened by previous guest. Staff disinterested. Never again.

On the first day we came in, we use the kitchen but we cannot find any rubbish bin, so we use our own plastic bag. However, we found a rubbish bin in the kitchen next day after the room cleaning. So nice and sweet observation! Thanks

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
