The Magnolia is well positioned to explore Melbourne. The MCG and other sporting venues are within walking distance. The accommodation is basic at best, but if you only require a bed it does the job. The breakfast was average. You get what you pay for.
Perhaps the nicest feature was the sea of flowering lavender as you walk in. Yes “boutique” does not fit. Interior is tired, stair carpet worn, pictures faded etc, though there are a few flowers.
