The Hotel is very close to transport, shopping, and Restaurants, they are serviced apartments, the front reception area is manned 24hrs with staff that know what they're talking about. The rooms a very clean and maintained well. There is more than adequate equipment to cook with 2 burner cooktop , microwave pots pans ect.

The Somerset was a pleasant facility with a helpful staff. The public transportation system made it easy to navigate the downtown area. Although there was a washing machine, the lack of a dryer was a negative.

Stayed for 3 nights. Very comfortable room though decor is a bit dated and the furniture is a tad tired as compared with the sister property Citadines which we stayed at on our last trip to Melbourne. Our room faced a large lit billboard but the blackout curtains were sufficient enough for my sleep not to be disturbed. Staff were...

Had pre paid the accommodation at the time of booking but upon check in reception attempted to charge again. They were adamant that we hadn't paid until I produced the receipt. We had also bought skybus tickets knowing that we couldn't get the bus from the hotel which was fine with us but the concierge was very reluctant to book...

I can recommend this as one of the best apartment hotels I've have visited on around the world trip. Only problem, with the CBD, is finding a restaurant other than Chinese, however you can ride the free trolley system to close by neighborhoods out side of China Town. Other than the restaurant issue, It is great hotel and a very...

The Somerset on Elizabeth is in a great location, on a tram line, not far from the Melbourne Central train station. Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
