We arrived at the Langham at 2.15pm on Saturday and stood in a line of about a dozen other people waiting to be checked in at Guest Services. At this time there were only three staff at check-in. This made for a tedious wait until it was our turn. The female who checked us in did apologise to us for the long wait. We than handed over our gift voucher which was retained by Guest Services.
Our view from our our 12th floor room was amazing. We could see the easterly length of the Yarra river and at night looked even more wonderful with the Melbourne Christmas lights and decorations. The room was nicely appointed. There was a well stocked min bar in the room, and a bar fridge which I checked out looking for our plate of chocolate truffles which did not eventuate.
We went to the Melba Restaurant at our appointed seating time of 5.30-7.30pm. On arrival I reminded the concierge of our booking and informed him that this dinner was part of our inclusive package. We found the food variety and quality first rate, probably in the same vein as the Conservatory located at Crown Casino. When we completed our dinner, I was handed the bill by one of the table staff and requested to go to the payment desk. At this desk I was then asked how I would like to pay for the dinner and once again reminded the female staff member that it was part of our all inclusive package. That wasn't the end of it, on checking out of the hotel Sunday morning, I again had to remind the male guest services member that it was included in our gift voucher. I wondered why there appears to a disconnect of information between the restaurant and Guest Services.
Check out was quite quick and smooth. I informed the male staff member that we never received the plate of chocolate truffles as part of our package. He asked what time we had checked in the day before and whether I had contacted Guest Services during our stay to follow it up. I politely said I didn't contact Guest Services as it was the hotel's responsibility to ensure it was provided (at other hotels in Melbourne this has never been an issue for us). He apologised on behalf of the hotel and took note of it, along with the incorrect additional charge of our Dinner at the Melba.
As a side note, I wasn't impressed that the automatic hand hygiene dispensers were not working at the entry to both the Aria Lounge and the Melba Restaurant at the time we went to dinner. But I suppose I was used to dispensers being fully stocked and working having been a cruise ship some two weeks earlier whereby hand hygiene was of the utmost importance by the cruise liner.
Overall we enjoyed our stay but it was the little things that let it down a bit.

A special mention must go to Mr. Lucas, the hotel manager, whose kindness and attention to detail truly stood out.
The housekeeping team also deserves high praise for their impeccable service. My room was always spotless, with thoughtful touches that made it feel extra cozy and festive. The attention to detail from both the housekeeping staff and the entire team was remarkable, ensuring I had everything I needed for a truly comfortable stay.
The Langham Hotel is truly one of the best hotels I've ever had the pleasure of staying at.
Checking in was then quite quick and we were given a room upgrade due to the booking via the Fine Hotel & Resorts program from amex.
In hindsight, I'm not really sure whether we actually got an upgrade, apart from a better view, as the room seemed very small. We also noticed that there was no personal touch, such as a welcome gift, a handwritten greeting card or anything similar. The room therefore seemed relatively unspectacular and only average. What I also noticed very negatively was the large bottle of water next to the Nespresso machine with the large sign that it would cost AUD 12. I personally find it a bit cheeky to offer water at such a high price and this bottle should either be free or not be there. The beds on the other hand were the highlight of the room as they were just perfect. Also positive were the white towels.
The breakfast was good, but not very good. The selection was good, the coffee very tasty. I personally would have liked a small hot menu for breakfast, where you could order breakfast dishes such as an Eggs Benedict.
After breakfast we went to the wellness area which was perfect. Pleasant water temperature, whirlpool with a spectacular view, tea on offer. So really perfect.
When we got back to the room, we noticed that the European plug had arrived, which we had requested from the cleaner before visiting the wellness area. It was also very positive that she asked us when we happened to meet in the corridor whether it had arrived. I found that very appreciative.
Next we come to my second negative highlight, apart from the non-existent welcome. This was the behavior of the concierge. Normally, when I go to the concierge service of a hotel, he gets up and greets me standing up and then sits down when I sit down. However, this was not the case here and he remained seated, although he must have seen that I was walking towards him. For me, this is a maximum disrespect. I also had the feeling that he had no desire to deal with my request at that moment, which put me in an unp
Chuan Spa very clean but underused hence missing towels empty water canister and only one staff member who did replenish when I pointed out missing items.
Breakfast was amazing as expected with an overly helpful chef keeping her eye on me and insisting that she prepare my food! That’s great as I’m coeliac but the joy of eating from a Langham buffet is wandering , choosing as well as feasting with your eyes!
Lovely touch that there was a turndown service and Natty made sure we had plenty of bottled water and our room was always tidy and comfortable - thanks Natty!
All staff were lovely, helpful, courteous and friendly.
Wonderful experience!
Coffee in the room was a new style Nespresso which was marvelous but the decaf coffee in the restaurant was terrible!

Oooooh boy I loved staying here! Everyone was very nice and polite checking in and out of the hotel. Entering the main floor there eis a beautiful fountain followed by an exquisite staircase with fresh pink flowers. Definitely take photos! There is a fun pink telephone booth to take pictures with on the lobby level and I was greeted with some welcome fruit and water in the room because of AmEx which was nice. They also have cute pink bicycles outside as well as a cute store. Every time I called for ice (to ice my knee) they were very fast and prompt. Sent out some laundry to and four hours later it was pretty much ready which was amazing! I went up to the 25th floor and they must have set it up for a conference because it wasn’t that great at the time being... It’s also in a great location on the water and central to everything. This place is worth staying at for the breakfast alone. It’s a buffet breakfast but they have an omelette station (or however you want to make your eggs) but the best part is they have a juice bar where you can pick all the fruit and veggies you want and put it in a juicer and make your own juice! For me, that was really cool as I do not have my own juicer at home and it allowed me to experiment each morning trying different types of combinations. The room was lovely with a view of the city and the bridge with the Merry Christmas sign at the time. There was a fully stocked snack bar and bar which was cool, but I did not use and they had an extra converter plug which was nice in case you forget yours, an umbrella to use if you need, bathrobe and slippers, and even an old school telephone holder which was a different touch. I did not get to explore the club which was
disappointing but maybe next time. The restaurant/bar at night was good though the service was slow (but the burger and wine was very tasty) and they had the buffet open for dinner which to me does not look like it is worth the $150 they charge you for it. (I snuck in and looked around at the food they were serving. I’ve seen better for your bank in Vegas) This was a great place to stay during the week that I was here and I would stay here again
The 4 huge lifts/elevators are excellent.
The demolition/building site next to the rear/side of the hotel was still making noise in December and it will clearly continue for many months I requested a room far from it and got one.
The over large lobby grand stair looking gaudy with Christmas decorations has very few seats so to find anywhere quiet it would be best to have a Club room which we did not. However I don’t think breakfast is offered in the club.
Our room was well serviced but why clean dressing gowns were removed (and not always replaced) so often making unnecessary laundry I don’t know. The bath had no safety handle and no nearby shampoo. The shower had no internal light nor mixer tap. Air con was a bit noisy.
The worst parts of the hotel have to be the joined up afternoon tea space which impinges on the walk in dining area/bar area which crowds towards the dreary Melba dining area. We ate 9 very dull breakfasts little changed day to day and frequently the scrambled eggs would set solid. Hot food was cheap, the juice machines very popular with some and decent pastries. The Melba looks so dated and the food so average I would never use it again.
Our Christmas buffet charm free and table decorations missing.
The pool is not large and being open very warm.No poolside shower and steep pool ladders. Outside loungers popular.
The hotel was very busy in December, without a lot of money being spent on improving it I will not return.
Prior to booking in we booked the Melba Restaurant and Arira High Tea quoting the gift voucher as payment. Imagine my surprise when the Melba Restaurant Maître d' said that the voucher could not be split and we would get no refund from our $1,000. That was ridiculous, so I asked for our meals and high tea to be charged to our room and we would get a refund, if one existed at the end of our stay.
Nearly a fortnight after our stay, there is still and pending $100.20 charge to our credit card, which I believe is a security deposit. The ‘invoices’ we have been given are very confusing and difficult to reconcile.
"Try to avoid parking there ($80), get a club room, the 21st floor has great views!!"Read full review
