What a great pub this is! Came across this by accident. Was attending a concert at Melbourne's Festival Hall and we were running late! Was indeed very lucky to get a table! Was also surprised of the exceptional friendly and attentive staff on a busy 'bustling' Friday night. Great pub food and reasonably priced. We had to try the burgers...

When I first arrived I was greeted by Oli who was incredibly friendly and made me feel at welcome. He was able to provide a map and suggestions for where I should go for things like shopping, food and the tram system which was really helpful as Melbourne is a city that I had not been to before. The backpackers...

Meself and a friend only chose to stay here as it was in walking distance to Southern cross train station where we needed to travel from the next day. Other than that i would spend your money elsewhere or just for one night as the building is so old and dingey, the rooms were small & smelly with no air...

I'll start off with the positives. Location is great. Central, tram, shops all close. Easy to get groceries. The main CBD of Melbourne is very easy to reach. The staff during our stay were nice and helpful. They do seem to clean the main areas every day. Negatives - kitchen is too small, not enough tables/chairs, 1 fridge is inadequate....

Stayed for 4 nights. By far the worst hostel we have stayed in. The room, which was a standard hostel room was OK, no complaints there...unless you end up with a balcony room where your blinds are taped down as guests use the balcony (that is linked to the room to smoke). The whole second floor stunk. The kitchen was...

A great trip to Melbourne somewhat spoiled by the below par accommodation ... the room was cold and draughty, the heater did not work, the bed was rock hard, and to top it all off, the wifi wasn't working.

6 bed room, 3 of us. Room a little cold and drafty due to not properly sealed doors and windows. Springy beds. 2nd floor female showers better than 1st. Helpful staff, great location. Served its purpose of a bed for a night. Structural issues in rooms and bathrooms need to be fixed. Close to a free tram stop and shopping...

Enjoyed the room, location and friendly staff (they were really helpful), but the kitchen was woefully understocked (not enough cutlery, bowls etc) and the general aesthetic was a little run down. Would stay again but only in a private room. Also got bitten A LOT while I was there but I can't say for sure it was anything wrong on...

I stayed 5 nights in The Spencer Backpackers in a 6 bed dorm! Two friends of mine stayed in a double bed room. The rooms were dusty and dirty. The house is an old building and smells really old and bad. It's okay for a night but I wouldn't stay longer than that. The kitchen size is okay with a...

Made online booking and was emailed asking ETA. Advised flight in and time, no return email. Arrived to a sign with a mobile number. Rang it three times, also sent msg. After 40 mins guy called me back but we'd already found somewhere else to stay. Another traveller also waited! Very slack service, should have been told of wait at...
