All went smooth with check-in and they went out of their way to make our whole group of 30 feel welcome. The rooms as big enough, clean and no noise. Great after the Travel Lodge in Surry Hill, Sydney!

Stayed here for 2 nights with a friend for the Australian Open as it was the only affordable hotel with a great location at the time. Bourke Street Mall and Flinders Street (Station) are within walking distance. As expected from a budget hotel, the rooms were disappointing. The shower is situated right next to the bed and is covered by...

In the heard of city, and you are paying for location. Reception looks like train ticket window as person is behind the glass. Rooms are compact with thin walls and well maintained. Hotel starts from 1st floor and ground floor is just at entry. In late night door is electronically locked and you need to use door key to enter...

We've stayed here for 4 days and we had good access to the city. The room was enough for us with own toilet and bathroom. Room was clean and with fresh linens. I went to see the Australian Open and the location of ibis is nearby the flinders street station where the tram to Melbourne Park is located.

In the heart of the city, accessible to everything. Quite ugly and dirty with paper thin walls, long walks down corridors and painfully slow elevators. The bathroom was divided idiotically with toilet (commode) in separate closet and shower and sink in another. Ceiling air filter has never been cleaned and top bunk bed was not even made up for us....

Hi LO, Please don't hesitate to contact me directly if there's any aspect of your stay you would like to discuss in person. Safe to say we ourselves not big fans of the diabolical colour scheme. But please note folks if you're looking for spacious marble foyers and bathrooms - you're not going to find them at Ibis Budget. The...

Great location for accessing Australian Open Tennis - free tram within 100 metres. Double room was a good size with comfortable bed and separate toilet. Check in/out was very easy and even with my room being on the 1st floor next to the locker room there was little or no noise. Window looked out into another business but just kept...

Everything about this place was great! The location was excellent and the room was clean and relatively spacious. That's pretty much all I need in a place to stay so can't complain. On the better side of the Ibis Budgets that we stayed at during our trip (also stayed at one in Sydney).

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
