My first quarantine and I came with very low expectations as I had read scathing reviews of most hotels. Was informed at the airport that I would be going to the Intercontinental. To my pleasant surprise, this turned out to be a good place. The room was very neat and the bed comfortable to sleep on. No noise. Some meals were really good and some not to my taste. Ubereats was utilised from time to time and I also ordered a few groceries from Coles. Everything was delivered up to my room without any problem including hired gym equipment. I would advise anyone about to fly to Perth to carry packaged/sealed snacks and bottled water in preparation for the long wait before you get to your room. We are living in difficult times so a little preparation will mitigate some of the inevitable discomforts.

Started my 3rd Perth quarantine today. Everything delayed at airport and it knocked on. 2nd time at intercontinental in 4 months. I travel for work. In December my stay would’ve ranked a 4 for service - as expected for an IHG Intercontinental brand. The food was a 2.5 but it was mostly edible. However on day 1 of my 2nd quarantine when enquiry at 8:47pm about getting food (ordered or otherwise) I was told that staff were ignoring calls from guests (we can’t leave the rooms under penalty of law) so the staff could organise the food. I don’t know why the duty manager was also making food. He then said we couldn’t order anything today and that includes ordering in from outside the hotel. Most passengers on our flight hadn’t eaten since late morning breakfast time - and I finally got dinner at 9:30pm. The late dinner wasn’t my issue but it was the abusive and offensive way I was spoken to by the duty manager. He is clearly out of his depth and is not suitable for handling stressful situations with forced quarantine paying guests that haven’t had food in 10 hours. He could’ve diffused the conversation with usual customer service 101 skills but instead he took the abusive and rude path and even hung up on me. My wife then called from outside the hotel and was even more offended by this very rude and thoughtless unprofessional representative of the IHG brand. My wife has his name but I won’t post it here as I expect an apology from the hotel manager in reply to this post and will pass further details confidentially. I will continue to post my reviews daily around my work schedule. I hope to meet this particular employee upon my check out so that I can advise him to ask for better training from his employer or perhaps to consider a career change - especially not in a hospitality customer facing role. He’s certainly not a duty manager’s bootlace. People doing quarantine are doing it without choice and are paying for the privilege and we still deserve to be treated respectfully and as paying customers- not treated as if we are a burden on a major international brand hotel. Really very unprofessional!

Uber can transport food from Fremantle to Perth, and it is still hot, Intercontinental cannot keep it warm over two floor. No menus, no idea what much of the food is, or what it contains, one plastic container of brown sludge much like another! But again WA Health's fault, nothing is the responsibility of this awful hotel. Staff unhelpful to the point of ignorance. Expensive and dismal sums it up

Hi brocklehirst, Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback about your stay at our hotel. Complete guest satisfaction is our topmost priority and it's disheartening to know that we've missed the mark. It's with regret to hear about your disappointment with the food services. What you described isn't the experience we want you to remember us. I shared your review with our hotel management. Your feedback will be used as a reference to coach our team, so better service will be sorted out. I also sent you a private message discussing this further. We appreciate you choosing us for your accommodation needs. I hope you'll give us another opportunity to host your stay and show that the unsatisfactory part of your visit was uncommon! Stay safe, Jomar M. Case Manager IHGService
