This establisment is owned by a foundation and has mansion like buildings in a big garden with a lake next to it. Very restful. Our room was good and even had a balcony. Breakfast was great with individual packaging of as much as possible. The restaurant was not open for hotel guests though. Staff was very helpful.

Great for meetings and gatherings of small groups. The rooms are basic, but with everything you need. Easy access to trains (10min walk) and busses (2min walk). Old renovated mansion at a beautiful location. Not for those who seek a modern hotel. Great service and helpful staff.

Have you ever heard about Schaeffergaarden in north of Copenhagen? I thougt they represented quality but first of all service is a foreign country there...they don´t have the priority for this. And the standard of the hotel rooms is very low. At the same time there is not much to do in the nearness of Schaeffergaarden.

As a family of four we opted for two rooms at the hotel. Very friendly and helpful service throughout the stay. The breakfast buffet was a highlight for us all and for me the bonus was the danish design furniture and lamps that I loved. Only downside was a neighbour smoking on the balcony next to our room which meant we couldn’t have the balcony door open whilst he was smoking😡.
Beautiful gardens and a lovely area to be based. Approx 25 mins outside of central Copenhagen by train (trains every 10 mins👍)and a 10 min walk to the station from the hotel.
We enjoyed being just outside of the centre but within easy reach and had some lovely evenings eating in Hellerup and a visit the the nearby Bakken tivoli.

I really wanted to give this hotel a 4 star plus review.. And I was going to do so..

Beautiful, exterior, good parking facilities and friendly staff.

Rom 235 was small but cosy, it had some flaws but I did not mind since everything else seemed to be ok..

Upon arrival I noticed that there was a wedding party the same evening.
We did not think much of it since we ourselves were going to be out for dinner and drinks.

When we came back at 0130, the wedding party was full boar.

But hey, it is a wedding and guests are happy. And so were we, for the time being....

Our room 235 was actually facing away from the party, but some inexplicable reason both the doors and windows on both sides of the banquet room, in which the wedding took place, were open.. and therefore the bass would penetrate through the whole building.

0259 we were sure that the music would stop, but it did not.. now it became a game of who could guess what song was playing. a game that was uncannily easy to win as one could almost hear every word of the lyrics.

04:10 the music stopped.... 5hrs and 50 minutes before the breakfast ends..

The four star rating was starting to deteriorate quick smart..

Now from being a positive experience it became a hunt for faults..

The nice rooms now just looked like a chappy attempt to appear like something it was not.

The carpet had so many severe stains that could wonder what they just would not rip it out and start allover.

No electrical output next to the bed, nor next tot he desk in the room.

No bed side tables to place your phone/ jewellery on

The fixture for the non existing drapes of yester year had not been removed, same for fixture of shower curtain that no longer existed.

There was severe lack for attention to detail in the bathroom, which in fairness could easily have been quite ok, but now it was just worn.

The door lock did not work, so when you leave the room, you would have to unlock the door from the outside in order for it to shut.

Now all this could have been averted.. The hotel wrote us twice before our arrival.. Twice to remind us about the very nice restaurant on site, but not once did the hotel inform us of the impending disco/wedding... Had they done so, we would have been able to choose a different hotel, or just blame ourselves, but the choice would have been ours.

On the positive note, breakfast was pleasant, but it bewilders me that it closes it at 10 am on a Sunday, what is the rush? Especially taking into
consideration that half the hotels guest have just fallen asleep..

On a final note... The hotel as a great history, why not flaunt it everywhere? Pictures stories ect ect... everything to gain nothing to loose..

I stayed in this hotel for a week while I'm in Copenhagen. The hotel is located not within the city centre but don't let the distance put you off! The location of the hotel is easily access by cab or even public transport. Bus station is just 3 minutes walk and the train station is just about 15-20 mins walk. Very convenient to get to town with the bus and metro connection at Hellerup station.

The room size is like typical European hotel, not too/overly big but clean and well maintain. The heater is well functioned and there is heated flooring in the bathroom.

The staffs are very friendly and very attentive. The wait staffs at their restaurant is very accomodating as well. Food is delicious and well presented. Breakfast spread can be a little limiting but overall it's good!

There is an Italian restaurant besides the hotel and they served very nice dinner, pair with wide arrays of wine to choose from. The owner himself is Italian but have stayed in Copenhagen for decades. Very friendly and nice host!

There is a small lake at the compound of the hotel. However, off the beaten tracks, there is another beautiful bigger lake with natural jogging trails at the neighbour hood. Ask the hotel staffs and they will guide you. It is very relaxing strolling at the lake at the neighbourhood every morning and during the dusk!

If I would to come back to Copenhagen, I will definitely stayed here again.

Schæffergarden is a beautiful hotel/conference place, the older building from 1655 (used to be the king's hunting lodge) has been tastefully expanded with 2 wings containing hotelrooms and one restaurant addition. Nearby lovely Danish woods with paths galore for nice walks. The food is scrumptious, gourmet food with local produce. and the staff - simply wonderful! I was there to work, but if you have a sense of history and love good food - do visit this wonderful place!

Beautiful and interesting hotel with its story, history and genuine art. Slightly worn feeling and coldness can be an issue during wintertime cause of one-layer old Windows. They also caused too early woke-up: cars on parking place started driving… Breakfast was really tasty and good in quality. Very friendly and helpfull staff.
