The hotel's atmosphere and cleanliness receive accolades, with guests appreciating the modern design and immaculate facilities. Detailed Reviews
Superb hotel that will now be our first choice for all future Auckland stays. The hotel is perfectly located within easy walking distance of Queen Street, the ferry terminal etc, yet not right in the thick of the latter which is ideal considering the incredible amount of construction currently taking place. The lobby is beautiful and serene, check-in couldn’t have been smoother and there were always plenty of attentive and helpful staff on hand. We stayed in two different rooms and found both large, well-spaced and very well appointed. The bed was super comfortable (we particularly loved the pillows), the bathrooms large with beautiful toiletries (Lanvin in the first room and Hermes in the second), and both rooms were equipped with a Nespresso machine and kettle and a very well-stocked bar fridge. In particular, both rooms were super quiet in terms of both internal and external noise which is so important to me; I didn’t hear a single peep from neighbouring rooms, the corridor or via the balcony. 10/10 on all counts.

We stayed in a Superior Room, 1 King Bed, City Views. More on that later.
The room has quality everywhere from the Bosch bedside radio to that rain shower with great pressure. Staff were great. Indoor swimming pool was very nice and at a good temperature, as was the spa.
The downsides were the room lighting was very Dim. Parking price was not listed on their website and on a Sunday it cost $45 a night, ouch.
Now the City view looked straight across into the bedrooms of the adjacent building so had to have the blinds closed the whole time. See phone attached.

A recent 4-night, pre-cruise stay at the Sofitel was excellent! Location is perfect for access to the harbor and the central city. We splurged on a harbor view room and had a fantastic view of the water plus the central city skyline with the Sky Tower in the background. The room was very comfortable with all the amenities one could want. Service was excellent. The concierge staff was particularly helpful in handling multiple requests/inquiries. The young lady in the lounge remembered our drink preferences after a single night. We ate breakfast daily and one dinner in the restaurant and had no complaints. The breakfast buffet selection was particularly substantial and there was a large selection of a la carte items that could be ordered. We would definitely stay there again.

This hotel has a great location on the Harbour and from some rooms a great view of the Sky Tower which was great on NYE. The room was large, as was the bathroom. There was a evening 'turndown' service which was good. The housekeeping was a little varying in standard. The area for tea/coffee, etc was a little crowded but the addition of a small sink was good. The cupboard containing the fridge would not close properly as it was too small for the fridge. My main criticism was the breakfast. It was ok but not really 5" star standard. Coffee is brought to you in a mug rather than an individual pot, if they remember to bring it! The staff were friendly particularly the bell boys and the bar staff. The bar makes reasonable cocktails and is a good place to meet other travellers .

We loved our staycation at the Sofitel Viaduct. We stayed in a lovely room (get the more expensive external-facing rooms that look out on the marina/harbour and skyline rather than onto the internal marina/into other rooms) which was very well-appointed and had a great massage, buffet breakfast and service generally. It's also in a nice quiet part of town but close to the city and waterfront. Staff, including the assistant manager Georgia, were very responsive and helpful. We had an issue with the movies feature not working on out TV and, when they couldn't resolve it immediately, we were offered alternative rooms with similar views on the spot, as well as the opportunity to view options before moving, as well as help with our bags etc. It's the kind of professionalism that makes Sofitel five star.

This is a beautiful hotel in a lovely setting, but the organisation lets it down. For instance, on arrival we were not told about the pool/spa so had no idea if it was free or how to access it. We had to ask for toiletries, tea coffee etc to be replaced and on one occasion our request to reception was simply not followed through. Services which the room information detailed did not seem to be available.
The rooms are well appointed, comfortable and large, although the extremely narrow balcony was only wide enough to stand on. Unfortunately we just missed out on a special offer for a harbour view room so went for “city view” which turned out to be the boys station and a building site.

Superb service, great people, good food. The most impressive thing in this hotel was the people who worked there. Very welcoming, always saying bonjour and offering their assistance, even the ladies cleaning the rooms said hello. Good location near the harbour and 10 minutes walk to main shopping area.

This was a last minute booking for my husband and I to escape and to relax for the night. We booked on the app - it did not say that the spa, restaurant and bar were ALL closed due to low occupancy. I understand this is a unique situation with COVID but we should have been made aware when booking. I asked about an upgrade, they said it wasn’t available - yet we’d been emailed offering a paid upgrade. I pay for the privilege of being an Accor Plus Member. I expect more. I explained this in detail when checking in but she wasn’t having it. I even suggested we cancel and go home but that wasn’t possible either apparently.
The room was expensive, yet the curtains let light in, there were dreadful noises from the aircon. No complementary drinking water?!. The Nespresso machine was great but no milk for it.
All they could offer was a room service menu. At breakfast there was no sauce, no jam we had to ask for water.
This was the most expensive yet most disappointing Sofitel I’ve stayed at and I’ve stayed at many. There is much better in the City on offer for much less. Really frustrated and disappointed.

I truly am so sorry to hear of the many shortcomings you encountered during your stay with us. It is never our intention to provide you with a less than satisfactory experience. Our Lava Dining restaurant is open for In-house guests only so I am sorry if you were informed otherwise and with the upgrade we only have one other room category above the Junior Suite that you booked which was occupied during your stay. I understand your frustrations and will be in contact with you directly to discuss further. We stayed here for two nights. We were given a lovely, friendly welcome and made to valued as guests. The hotel is set in a beautiful location and we had a spacious room overlooking the harbour. It was very comfortable and had a spacious bathroom and a great shower as well as a bath. Lovely fluffy towels and an abundance of them.
We used the laundry service which was very efficient - our clothes were returned the same day.
Would love to stay at this hotel on a return visit.

Everything was great. Rooms were very good, hotel staff were very friendly both at the front desk and particularly the concierge folks. Some nice restaurants along the harbor. Cafe in the the hotel was also very good. The only suggestion I have is that the housekeeping department should be more careful before knocking to clean the room or stock the mini bar

Sorry about the delay, yes they have great showers!
Yes I'm sure.
Same answer as above! The hotel staff is terrific! Anything your heart desires!!!!
I see someone recommending the Hilton to you instead the hotel is slightly tired and not as as stunning. We are local living in the Waikato two hours away, so knowhoth well. The location is right on the wharf so yes more going on but if you’ve young kids then it can be too much noise and too much going on. I’d much prefer the location of Sofitel. Your literally five mins walk into the restaurants on the viaduct etc. And the maritime museum. Both charge crazy money for parking i think NZD$45 a night. Horrendous
