Grand Millennium Auckland is widely regarded for its spacious, well-appointed rooms and the inviting atmosphere that blends modern appeal with a touch of nostalgia. Nestled in a prime central location, the hotel is a favorite among guests eager to shop, sightsee, and attend local events.
While there's some criticism over extra charges and occasional service delays, many visitors appreciate the comfortable beds, top-notch cleanliness, and the array of amenities, including a sauna, pool, and gym that contribute to a satisfying stay.

Detailed Reviews
These are not normal times, our stay here is due to NZ's Covid 19 mandatory Isolation requirements for returning travellers .For isolation purposes, the hotel has been good, our room is comfortable, the service is good and we feel safe here which are the most important issues for us. For the 2wks period of stay, our room quickly morphed into our mini office including a good sound system from our mini bose ( which wed packed in anticipation) My husbands guitar was also a must for this anticipated stay!
We had no idea where wed end up so came prepared, lots of reading materials and we were also hoping for good Internet which we have here most of the time!
The food is ok but we're not here for a food holiday! Happy to skip a few meals, probably good for us anyway! Im happy they bring fresh fruit each day though! Yes, we're looking forward to leaving here, but thank you Grand Millenium for keeping us safe. For isolation guests, please include some proper hygien system for washing residents eating utensils in the rooms!

Dear Sal C You are correct, "These are not normal times". . We are operating under extremely different circumstances but our goal is still that you leave here with a smile on your face.I am pleased that our team were able to make this compulsory isolation period a pleasant one. It sounds like you were thoroughly prepared and I am glad that our wifi signal was adequate. Thank you for your feedback in relation to the washing of dishes. I will ensure this is paced onto the team and taken into consideration for future guests. All the best to you both during this challenging time. Kind Regards Simon Labroome Guest Relations Manager.

Very centrally located- roughly 3 blocks from the Sky Tower, close to all the shopping on Queen St. Also walking distance to ferry and train. Arrived at about 10:30 am after a grueling trip from the US East Coast and 20 hours of flying- Delighted that despite an afternoon checkin time, our room was ready and we were able to shower and take a nap. The desk clerk advised changing money at the Sky Tower casino which doesn’t charge a fee and offers a very favorable exchange rate. Our room was spacious- love the loads of pillow and comfortable mattress. Room refrigerator came in handy for snacks bought at nearby supermarket.

Checked in room 314 on the 25/9/2020 @ 10:30pm to isolate with my 77 year old mother in law cos she needs a carer. Room is nice and spacious, everything was well set for a 14 days stay. My whole career has been in hospitality industry, I have been working in hotels for 20 years as a room attendant and 12 years as a Supervisor then Assistant Housekeeper. First thing I check was the beds, one bed was clean but the bed next to the wall which is the bed I picked I opened up the sheets and found heaps of hairs on the bottom sheet, so I rang straight down to receptionist to let housekeeping know and I told the lady if she can organise fresh sheets to deliver first thing in the morning since it was late in the evening, but I will sleep on top of the sheets, she said Ok. It takes 3 phone call from me on our 4th day for someone to deliver fresh linens. Same evening my mother in law wanted a cuppa tea, plug the kettle @ the power point on minibar area not working, I rang for another kettle got a brand new kettle but still not working, find out the power point faulty due to the other socket along side the window skirting coming off from the wall, ( was like that when we checked in) rang down receptionist, 2 guys rang back Saturday morning asking what is wrong with the kettle told them it’s the power point and the other socket, they said they will send someone after our 3rd day ( which is after our first swap) no-one came, I rang again and receptionist said sorry someone will definitely come on Monday 5/10/20to have a look. It’s now Monday still no one has come to check. Overall ❤️ the room nice and clean
Big Thank you to the chef and their team food is very delicious, love the salads so fillings I skip some meals.

We stayed for two nights and thought it was a good hotel. Service was very friendly - front desk seemed very efficient. Our room was large and comfortable with nice toiletries. No password required for the WiFi which is always a worry but apart from that no complaints. A laundry for guests to use would be an advantage and most hotels in NZ provide one - even the Chateau and the Copthorne at Bay of Islands. We ate once in the bar - very nice Italian platter but took a long time to arrive. Parking excellent value for Auckland. Hotel is well situated near the art gallery and Queen Street.

Dear Nicola I would like to thank you for choosing to stay with us at the Grand Millennium Auckland.,I'm glad you felt our front desk team was friendly and efficient . It's something we've worked hard on and we're pleased our efforts resonated with you. We currently offer dry cleaning and laundry which is out sourced , I will pass your suggestions of a guest laundry facility to the management team though as we are continuously looking for areas we can improve. I am pleased that you were able to enjoy the fine cuisine that our Atrium bar provides and also that you noticed the value of our parking ( it is actually the cheapest parking for 24 hours in the cbd) Kind Regards Simon Labroome Guest Relations Manager

This large, central hotel is comfortable and stylish, with a piano playing in the spacious public rooms during the evenings. Our room was large and comfortable with two beds, a bath and a separate shower, and all the essentials (hair drier, iron, fridge etc), including a very welcome daily supply of fresh milk for the tea and coffee. The breakfast buffet was slightly low key and we found the air conditioning a bit noisy but would certainly recommend the hotel.

We've spent here two nights as part of a tour group and overall it was a nice experience. It is a large hotel, our room was of good size so was the bathroom (with bath and a separate shower). There is not much table space and only one bedside table to share, though two double beds. The buffet breakfast was with a good selection. Staff was friendly and professional. The hotel's location is very good, near Queen Street.

We stayed here 4 nights and it was a pleasant stay. The staff were great especially the staff at the atrium bar. We also enjoyed two very good meals in the bar area where the service was excellent. Happy hour was also a plus 😊 The main issue we had was that we arrived in the morning after travelling 30hrs and we were exhausted however we had to wait until 3pm to get to our room. I have noticed that other guest were accommodated sooner. Also our room backed on to a noisy building site. However on the whole a great stay. We avoided the restaurant as the hotel caters for a number of large tourist groups.

Dear Anita Thank you for choosing to stay at the Grand Millennium Auckland. I am sorry that we were not able to provide you with a room when you arrived in the morning. Our team will always do their best to check guests in early but when we are fully booked the night before and have a check out time of 11am ,it is very hard to check people in when they arrive before midday. The only reason we would ever check a guests in before others is if they have different room types or booked the night before so they are guaranteed an early check in. I am glad once a room became available that you enjoyed your stay. Our goal is to provide exceptional customer service and it sounds as though we met your expectations. Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback Kind Regards Simon Labroome Guest Relations Manager

Beautiful hotel, lovely room. Tub was my favorite part. Wifi was just OK in the room, usually had to go downstairs to get a decent signal to work or FaceTime clients. Breakfast was amazing, room service was quick and delicious. My room faced construction, so not a great place to try to sleep in, but I had to be up early anyways so this did not bother me. I did not do the full buffet breakfast but the a la carte menu and it was great. Servers very attentive.

We stayed two nights during the Rugby cup, so the hotel was probably at capacity. The hotel is very central, easyvwalk to down town. The room was clean and the bathroom was spacious. . Dinner was pleasant but be warned, the wine selection is not great and all of them are expensive. Breakfast buffet was excellent, an extensive range of both hot and cold with Barista made coffee. The hotel is variously advertised as 4 to 4.5 star. The foyer and bar level are new. However...the rooms are quite dated and shabby, lots of paint kicks. The lighting is very poor..the curtains need to be opened, which then cancels your privacy. There are no towel hangers. There are only 2 coffee/tea cups and two spoons..no saucers so if you want more than one drink you have to wash them. The air-conditioning/ heating is impossible to adjust. ( and no in room instructions) One of the 3 guest lifts was out of service for 24 hrs. There was not enough seating in the brasserie..consider 8 tour buses of guests trying to get breakfast and check out by 8am. And finally in which alternate reality does housekeeping not make the bed? They could prove fresh towels, wash the cups, restock the coffee/tea and empty the bins, but apparently are so short-staffed they can't make beds. Could do much better.

Thank you for your feedback, we have taken your comments and shared them with the team accordingly. One hack for the hotel that perhaps was missed by you is they we actually have 7 guest lifts 3 at the front the ones you are referring to and 3 behind… We hope to welcome you back to the hotel in the near future…

The hotel has a busy road outside but it was a clean hotel with very nice staff and a very good quality breakfast. The location is close to the Main Street in Auckland and easy walking distance to the Auckland tower and other sites in the city and not far from the harbour for the ferry. Very good stay
