I stayed in this hostel for 4 days..location is central and near to wharf and shopping centers. you have to climb a steep hill to reach the location. Staff was good and helpful. Kitchen was very big and has all required utensils. Rooms were clean and bit cozy. There were 2 bathrooms and 2 toilets on each floor and locks...

Stayed at the YHA hostel for 4 nights and was very pleased at the standard of cleanliness throughout the hotel. Although the room was basic it was fine for our needs. The shared bathrooms and kitchen area were well maintained, organised and most importantly clean! Numerous stoves, fridges and food storage areas to keep your things. You also get 1GB...

we stayed here several times and it´s ok hostel with good location and boring rooms - you´ll definitely find nicer YHAs but it´s fine... but during our last visit in 24-26th Aug 2015 we were really dissapointed with the staff..internet didn´t work at all for more than 24 hours and they didn´t even say sorry nor offered any help..considering we...

Pros: Helpful staff, clean room Cons: Outdated room and building. The room felt like i'm in some institution or old orphanage. It's like there's no effort to redecorate or refurbish the room and the building. Been to many YHAs in NZ and this one is the only one that dissapoint me. Why not torn it down and keep the Auckland...

I have been to much better hostels in New Zealand. There are couple of things I found unwelcoming and poor: 1. My bed in the dorm was full of hair. When I reported that to the reception, the guy said "thats impossible, I myself checked the room". I took him up to the room and showed him, he then gave me...

Had a really fantastic stay at YHA Auckland city. Couple of things which YHA could do differently is having a stable wifi connectivity and secondly provision of table fans (in summers). Everything else was perfect , neat and clean rooms & bathrooms, comfortable beds. Staff including Venk and Sanne were very helpful in providing information. ~Cheers

This large hostel is located near Queen Street, making it easy to use as a base for exploring Auckland. I've been to this YHA several times, and have found it to be utilitarian, but reliable. I've been in four-person dorms and private accommodation. The ventilation could be somewhat improved in many of the rooms, but it wasn't too bad. In...

I have travelled in NZ for the last six weeks and usually, I could rely on the YHA hostels to be at least the very good backup plan. Sometimes they were even the best ones in town (like in Picton or Wanaka). In Auckland, I was badly disappointed. The staff at the reception were unfriendly when I arrived, the room...

Room was 3 person, 1 single bed and 2 bed bunk, mattress were sponge type, not a proper innersprung bed. Room needed to be vacuumed, especially under the beds. Rest of room was typical hostel interior, bland and uninspiring. Kitchen facilities were clean and there was plenty of space. Lounge area was good, even had an outside space, where washing...

It's a great place to stay. Very friendly staff specially Venk, who is very supportive and helpful. The kitchen is neat and clean. Since I came in to settle in Auckland, this has been a good first hault- meeting people, learning about the local landmarks and all- very central. Prices also very reasonable. Overall, very satisfied.
