From our arrival to departure we could not fault our hosts or the unit we stayed in. We were issued with a code for each device for free wifi, this was very efficient but better still we did not have to repeatedly log on. Brilliant! The unit was just great, a lovely room for us with a lovely view out...

Excellent location ! No traffic between you and the beach just a walkway. Balconies for relaxing in the fresh sea air. We were four Golden Oldies with a pre-teen grandchild. She loved it, we loved it. She could play on the beach, walk on the walkway, and we could watch her from above when we needed rest. We had ample room...

Having spent nearly 11 hours driving from Whakatane around the East Cape, we were looking forward to arriving at Whispering Sands. However we didn't get a particularly pleasant welcome as Booking.com had made a mess of our reservation and we had been expected the previous night. Luckily I had proof of the correct reservation but initially I was made to...

A comfortable room, a very friendly reception, and a short walk down the beach to an excellent restaurant, I do not know what more to say, other than if I ever stay in Gisborne again I would likely stay there again

We had a beautifully compact modern upstairs apartment, immaculately cared for. The owners and staff were all helpful, pleasant and well-informed. We enjoyed four nights there, were able to store our bikes (hired from Gisborne Cycle Company) safely, and were 20 metres from the esplanade cycleway. Good off-street parking too. Excellent all round!

Modern, well kept, extremely clean and very well equipped, comfortable motel apartments overlooking a beautiful bay. Watching the sun go down from the boardwalk or the balcony is a must. A very convenient spot right in front of the beach with its own car park and only a shot fish stroll into the town.

It was a modest little hotel on the beach. Very clean, easy access, close to downtown, and a very nice boardwalk and sidewalk that stretches to an important historical marker, (The Captain Cook statue located in the first landing of Captain Cook in New Zealand). Very nice town for strolling, and decompressing. There is not much to decompress from in...

Comfortable and spacious room and so very very quiet! Just what we needed after a long day on the road. Good location opposite the beach and we had a lovely meal at a the local Chartered club. We would have happily stay longer if we could have.

Right on the beach, great view out to sea from the first floor, room has a balcony. The unit was spotlessly clean. The proprietor very friendly, welcoming, helpful. Close to town. Can't fault this place. Tino pai.

We recently stayed at the Whispering Sands on a one night trip to Gisborne. We usually stay at a different hotel but thought we needed a change. We are so glad we did. This hotel is right on the beach with a view out into poverty bay and Young Nicks head. This hotel is not right in the heart of...
