Great location, with not a lot of other accommodation options available. We had driven up from Gisborne, and had made the drive out to East Cape. By the time we got to this motel, we could not have driven much further, as the constant twisting and winding road had taken its toll! They market themselves as 1950's Kiwiana and that...

Want to start out by saying that this is a great place to stay if you want to go see the East Cape Lighthouse. However, if you can avoid eating dinner there (having food that does not require a microwave or refrigerator) I would highly recommend it. The food was tasteless and was like they just microwaved frozen things for...

Rest well in Hicks Bay. A good stop over on the Pacific Coast Highway touring route. Thank you for your time.

This motel might not be the most luxurious place to stay, but the rooms are perfectly clean and comfortable, and the location is fabulous. The view from the room looking across the grounds to the ocean and bay below was an unexpected treat. Friendly and welcoming staff.

I am always amused by clients whose comments reflect "what I expected for this area" as if some monkeys live on the East Coast. Hicks Bay is not for everyone and please read our website and trip advisor comments to pre understand where you are headed on the Pacific Coast Highway. Thank you so much for taking your time online.

A big group of us stayed at Hicks Bay Motel Lodge for 2 night and had heaps of fun. Ivett the Manager welcomed us all very warmly and made the experience wonderful for us all. Food was average, the rooms simple but beautifully clean and the linen was excellent. A great time had by one and all and a huge...

This is an older property. We stayed in a 1 bedroom Ocean View room which was slightly more expensive than a 1 bedroom self catering - strangely they were both identical! The rooms were very clean and we appreciated the generosity of towels and other amenities. Easy to self-cater if that is required. Lovely grounds and plenty of room to...

The Hicks bay motel is set in a magnificent location on the hill overlooking Hicks Bay to the historic wharf. The rooms are basic but comfortable and clean and the views are amazing The staff were helpful and the hotel includes a restaurant and a shop that sells alcohol.

We had a very friendly and enthusiastic greeting from the lady on reception when we arrived on a very wet Sunday afternoon with no booking. Fortunately we have this new ability as humans to read through the lines and pick and choose what is truth and what is not online. We often have happy guests who scratch their head and wonder why some guests write what they do. Hicks Bay All Day.
