Words seem inadequate in describing the 2 nights of comfort and pampering we experienced at Breckenridge Lodge recently . Ellie and Malcolm made us most welcome to this world of beauty, good food , comfortable beds and tastefully decorated rooms in their purpose built lodge . Malcolm's knowledge on wines from the Hawkes Bay area and his cooking and food...

When you read a series of superlative reviews of an accommodation but have yet to visit curiosity is always considerable. If a Lodge based holiday is a new experience that curiosity is all the greater. For anyone - like us - doing this for the first time, whilst (to date) everywhere we have been has hit high standards, some places...

Had a two night stay here following a very busy itinerary on the North Island and it was just what we needed. We had a warm welcome from Malcolm and Ellie and were made to feel comfortable and at home from the moment we walked in. We sat outside without even thinking about unpacking our bags, and had refreshments overlooking...

It's very easy not to write a review when you concur with the many reviews already written BUT on this occasion I just want to add to the huge weight of stunning reviews Malcolm and Elly work incredibly hard to achieve such brilliant reviews for their cooking, rooms, wine, ambience etc etc They could not have done more to make...

This bed and breakfast is not to be missed if staying in the area. Our innkeepers Malcolm and Elly were exceptionally warm, friendly and attentive, always offering tea, coffee or wine (wonderful sitting on the back porch or one of several hidden tables in the gardens). Breakfast is provided and is an exploration in flavor just by itself. Foodies in...

To the English ear, the word “Lodge” may be a source of uncertainty. A ski chalet in Colorado? A youth hostel? Those from England who have dined in the Lake District will be familiar with the Country House Hotel. The New Zealand Lodge is exactly that. Our stay at Breckenridge Lodge in Hawkes Bay, on the recommendation of friends, was...

My husband and I spent three wonderful nights at Breckenridge Lodge in March. Our room, while not large, was comfortable and cozy with a view over the vineyards. The "surprise" was first, the availability of dinner at the Lodge and second, how delicious it was! We arrived after a rather harrowing drive from Lake Taupo. Beautiful countryside, no traffic, but...

We spent two days at Breckenridge in February. What a fabulous lodge set in a quiet rural spot. Ellie and Malcolm made us very welcome on arrival. Our beautiful room with balcony overlooking the vineyards and distant views was exceptional. The food and wine and attention to detail were amazing. All enhanced by good company both nights over our meal...
