Excellent hotel - staff extremely helpful. No hesitation in recommending this unique hotel. Special thank you to Bicki for arranging our day at Cape Kidnappers and recommending local restaurant. Just wish we could have stayed longer. Napier is a great town and we would certainly consider returning one day

Great for large groups- we booked in a large group of account managers and they were all put in rooms which opened out onto the deck which meant they were able to mix and mingle with one another without having to go into each others rooms. Breakfast doesn't start until 7.30am, which was a little late for our team. We...

A throwback in time, and unlike other places it's kept up to date with facilities in good condition plus the mid cons one would expect. The staff were excellent with every request we made and the location is good.

The Masonic Hotel is in a great location and the decor is very nice. We just thought it was overpriced for quite a small space. The Masonic is also quite noisy first thing in the morning probably due to the location.

Hi there, Thanks for staying with us and for your review. You've raised an interesting point re the noise and we have gone to great lengths with installing double glazing to decrease this. Hopefully there was something positive in your stay which will allow you to come back again. Regards, Graeme

Hi there, Thanks for your comments on our hotel and also Emporium Eatery and Bar. Emporium is a great place for just a quiet drink or a 3 course meal and with a great selection of memorabilia there's always something to look at. Glad you enjoyed it. Regards, Graeme

Why do you go to Napier? To experience the art deco ambience! So why not stay in the best art deco place in town? We got a top room (#137) for NZ$170 a night. Easily worth it. Lots of motels down Marine Parade, where I stayed on a prevoous visit, but why not be in the middle of twon in...

Hi Graeme P, Thanks for the great review, much appreciated. Being in the middle of town is a big plus for us whilst also being across the street from the Napier waterfront and soundshell. The hotel does look like a museum with a lot of different displays to explore throughout the building. indeed, why on earth would you stay anywhere...

We stayed for two nights and happy with our stay. It looks as nice as the photos. The hotel is well located. We could easily have a stroll along the streets to look at art deco buildings and the beach is just in front of the hotel. If you like to run in the morning, I highly recommended to run...

We stayed here for three nights while visiting Napier and were impressed. Stayed in the Art Deco Suite which was lovely but it had doors opening onto the balcony and another guest walked into our room thinking they were in a public area so needed to keep our door shut which was a shame as the weather was very warm....

This hotel lives up to its name, retaining majority of its original features. The hotel seems to have been recently refurbished to a high standard without compromising on the Art Deco original design. A grand staircase or a period style lift will take you to the 1st floor, a large lanai area is located on this level at the front...

Great views and top price but not five stars, no room bar and dust on the shelves. Hotel was helpful, but impersonal. Luxury status slightly overstated.Didn't eta at the hotel but at mr D's where the food was ok but the service and price not reflecting its reputation. Maybe it was a busy weekend
