The Mon Logis is ideally situated: right on the Marine Drive and just a short stroll from the CBD. Lovely older home with all the amenities. The host, Gerard, has wonderful suggestions for activities in the area and copious literature. He arranged a meal for us at the Mission winery restaurant which was superb. The full breakfast was delightful as...

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay at Mon Logis in February. We stayed in the Paris Room and could have swapped for one night to one with balcony but decided not to. The Paris Room is airy, quiet, and very comfortable, at the back of the house with a view of the sea. The large bathroom is adjacent. We...

Mon Logis is the best, as I've said in Māori. Gerard is a host extraordinaire, and we have left a friend, truly as others have said. Great location, generous breakfast but most of all Gerard's way. He was so funny, informative and as kiwis say, a real dag. We loved it and will return. SnJ

Gerard was the most gracious host you could ask for. He is a charming Frenchman and entertaining. We left a new friend in Napier. The room was charming with a chandelier, beautiful bedding and very clean. Breakfast the next morning was divine. The omelette had fresh cheese and ham and generous. Croissants yum! Wonderful stay. Gorgeous view!

Our trip to the Hawke's Bay region and Napier in particular, was enhanced by our stay at Mon Logis. From its location along Marine Parade, to the comfort of the well-appointed rooms and delicious breakfasts, this B&B impressed. Gerard, the host, is charming, knowledgeable and a darn good cook. All bedrooms have views of the bay and its promenade. The...

We just enjoyed our third visit at Mon Logis, and on another recent stay, host Gerard generously offered to deliver us to our dinner venue to celebrate my wife's birthday at the Mission estate. This affable and humorous Frenchman hosts in a laid back charming way to make all guests most welcome. His breakfast table is a work of art...

This is an old style building with history, having survived the 1931 earthquake!! Gerard is a wonderful host with a good sense of humour. The bedrooms are well presented and the visitor's lounge is comfortable with tea, coffee and fruit juice available. The breakfast provided by Gerard is first class. All in all a great place to spend a couple...

We recently had our second stay here - attracted back by the location on Marine Parade, the wonderfully appointed rooms with really comfy beds, and Gerrard who is a host extraordinaire. He does the most fabulous breakfasts, especially the croissants which he makes himself and the ham and cheese omelette. Just don't get him started on the state of the...

Gerrard is just the best and most professional host. As someone who works in hospitality, Mon Logis is a great place to stay and the homemade croissants are the best I've ever eaten. The rooms are spotlessly clean, very comfortable and have storage and hanging space, which often seems missing or limited in other places. One of the original Napier...

One of the best over night stay experiences in New Zealand with a CHARMING room, super friendly host and great breakfast by the way. Highly recommended. Ps: ask for the front corner room to be waken up by the sunrise and ocean views every morning.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Mon Logis Luxury Bed & Breakfast Marine Parade Napier, New Zealand. A little Piece of France nestled in the heart of the beautiful wine growing region of Hawke's Bay. Originally built as an English Terrace house in the 1860's, this colonial Building was extended into a private hotel. Only a few minutes walk to the city centre, this grand two story colonial villa overlooking the Pacific ocean has a fascinating history as a private hotel since the early 1900's. Mon Logis is one of the building who survive the 1931 Hawke's Bay earthquake. In 1991, it became Mon Logis, meaning "My Dwelling." Now lovingly renovated, Mon Logis will cater to a maximum of eight guests and is modeled on the small privately owned French hotel. Charming personal service and French cuisine are the specialties. Of the upstairs individually furnished rooms, two have queen size beds and two have twin beds and all have their own private facilities. Owner Frenchman Gerard decorated each guest room differently but in a style in keeping with the original charm of the building. Iron bedsteads, feather duvets, lace covers and fine cotton linen all create a special elegance and one room is totally furnished with pieces bought from France. Downstairs an informal guest lounge invites relaxation, television viewing, a quiet time reading or perhaps a game of chess or bridge. Guests can help themselves to coffee or tea and biscuits any time of the day. Breakfast, served in the privacy of your own room or downstairs dining room, could be a basket of freshly baked continental breads, croissants and brioche with a compote of locally grown fruits or a wonderful herb omelette, crispy bacon and grilled tomatoes. Whichever is chosen certainly promises to be a most memorable meal. However, should the choice be made to dine out, Gerard is happy to give recommendations and as guide competent in giving an insight into Napier's unique architecture. All perfectly designed for comfort and relaxation, Mon Logis is a non smoking establishment and does not cater for children. French and Spanish are spoken; exclusive customised vineyard tour with host by arrangement. " Mon Logis is casual elegance at a price you can afford." ... more   less
