Big fish, dramatic coastline and magnificent food! That’s the North Island. Bishop Selwyn Resort overlooks Paihia and offers easy access to the rolling, rugged countryside, stunning tidal estuaries, mangroves and long silvery beaches of New Zealand’s Northland and Bay of Islands. The Bay’s 144 islands are renowned as an aquatic playground. The spacious and modern resort is within easy reach of the beach, the boutique shops and superb restaurants of Paihia. Take a refreshing dip in the pool or relax in one of the spas, either way you’ll emerge ready to explore what is, without question, an area of outstanding natural beauty.

Well that is a difficult question. The west coast beaches have black sand and the east white/golden sands. On the west side there is a gannet colony at Muriwai and good surfing . Further north are the Kaipara and Hokianga harbours very scenic less populated, Kauri forests and a sense of being back in time. Auckland to Paihia the east side is busy but scenic. Waiwera has hot mineral pools roads are busy but there is a toll road to dodge some of the traffic. I suggest that you go to the Automobile Association to get maps and chat with them.
