We are a couple of retirees who love to travel. Cooks Lookout Motel offered a peaceful environment with views taking in a broad vista of the Bay of Islands from above the township of Paihia. So relaxing! It was fascinating to watch the changes of colours and patterns as the tides changed during the course of each day. Our hosts...

We had a fabulous stay at Cook's Lookout Motel. It was off-season, so it was very quiet and peaceful. The view is unbelievable, including right from bed! The room was comfortable, with a lovely deck, where we ate breakfast and were visited by tui birds. We watched sunrises and sunsets, and even an amazing sky full of stars and the...

As Canadian travellers being away from home during Christmas Holidays, nothing made us feel more welcomed then Norm and Sheila going out of their way to hang a Canadian flag behind them in the office as we were checking in. The accommodation itself was unbelievable, with a clean and spacious room for two travellers and a view that was worth...

We stayed for 3 nights and the motel made up for the indifferent weather. We were given what was probably the best studio with unsurpassed views. The only sounds were the birds. The apartment was clean and met all our needs. Norm and Shelagh were excellent hosts with a great sense of humour. Paiha is a short drive and Hararu...

Norm gave us lots of travel tips and told us about hidden gems which made our stay even more special! The views...

We were welcomed here by Norm and Shelagh. This is a wonderful place to stay. The views across the bay are amazing. Cooks Lookout is about 4 minutes from the centre of Paihai. This means it’s lovely and peaceful and the facilities are still very close. We upgraded to a 2 bedroom suite that gave us substantially more space, and...

Very clean and convenient apartment with stunning views from the terrace. We felt we were in paradise. The children loved to play in the pool and on the trampoline. Great hosts : Norm gave us excellent advice on what to do and where to eat. He helped us concoct a programme for our day and even drove us to Haruru...
