We stayed in the Rotorua room in July 2018, a large, cosy and quiet ensuite with striking views of the lake, beautifully furnished and well stocked, including home baked cookies! Our hosts could not be more welcoming and accommodating, both in respect of laundry arrangements and allowing us to help with feeding the cute animals. Large variety of breakfast on offer and plenty of local knowledge as to how to make the most of your time in the area. Great wifi too! Loved our stay, were sad to go and would certainly return.
This review is for the small downstairs Rotoiti room. This bed and breakfast is on the hillside away from the hustle and bustle of Rotorua; the town and surrounding attractions are a bit of a drive away. The owners are charming and helpful. Breakfast is very good and made to individual order. The Rotoiti room is very small and rather claustrophobic but very clean. The bed is a single, but the mattress is comfortable and of good quality I had an individual well-appointed shower room and toilet, but it was not “en suite”; this is true of many B&Bs in NZ. Sound insulation was not too good, so be prepared to hear voices, plumbing sounds, creaking and doors closing. Raw scores unadjusted for price: Bed/ bedding 2 Other furniture and furnishings 2.0 Bathroom 4 Other facilities 1.8 Cleanliness 4 Friendliness/ Helpfulness 5 Noise/ privacy 2 Convenience/ proximity 2 Surroundings/ views 4 Service 3 Breakfast 5 I rate full scale, and not just one for bad and five for good. Taking into account baseline pricing in the neighbourhood, my “value for money” formula gives the small room that I stayed in an average score of 3.0 out of five. The larger rooms upstairs would probably score much higher, but I only caught a glimpse of these so cannot rate them. Lakeview would suit couples of all ages, and young children especially would like the quirky and friendly farm animals.…
We had a wonderful 2 night visit at Lakeview farmstay in March 2018 with our 3 children and it was a perfect oasis of calm and beauty. The family room we stayed in was lovely - lots of small details that made it feel warm, quaint and inviting. It was a wonderful home to come back to at the end of the day. One of the highlights of our visit was a tour Alan gave us of the farm where we met the animals up close and got a full view of the incredible grounds of the farm. George and Alan were perfect hosts and made a great breakfast each morning with a table full of options and locally made spreads. A gem of a place!
We had a great stay at Lakeview Heights: a warm welcome and beautiful surroundings, spacious rooms and bathrooms, a delicious breakfast and dinner and friendly animals. Plenty to do in the area for all ages and tastes. Highly recommended.
Had a very pleasant 3 night stay hosted professionally and warmly by the owners, Alan & Georgina. The 2 bedroom accommodation is adequately equipped and serviced well each day. Hosts were helpful in offering advice on restaurants and sightseeing options; with lots of tourist info available in the guest sitting room. A healthy breakfast was prepared and served by the owners in a nicely appointed dining room with modern kitchen. They were attentive yet sensitive to know when to leave us on our own. The farm is situated in pleasant country-side with views over the lake. We witnessed on one occasion a spectacular sunset. It is located about 20 min from Rotorua city centre which has a good selection of restaurants. Highly recommend to couples or families who enjoy cosy homestay and country living.…
