Have stayed here 3 times and found it comfortable although a bit run down. This time on arrival we discovered at least half of the units were occupied by people placed there by the Government for emergency housing. After 4 hours my wife was so concerned for her safety we left and found another motel. We were not advised of the situation when booking and after travelling from Auckland were shocked but gave it a go. I paid for one night on arrival (instead of the 2 originally booked) and the owner REFUSED to refund any of my money. I will NEVER stay here again and would NOT recommend this motel to anyone. P.S. In future I will always ask if there are any emergency housing people staying at any motel or hotel I am thinking of staying at in New Zealand.

My wife and I and our two daughters spent 1 night at the Golden Glow Motel. The accommodation was spacious and clean and consisted of 2 single beds in a separate room, as well as a double bed in an open plan lounge and kitchen area. The beds were very comfortable and the shower was nice although the shower head was a bit low. The dining room table was small but adequate. Overall, the motel was pleasant and was a convenient stop-over to visit attractions in the area which were extremely enjoyable, particularly Te Puia and Kuirau Park, as well as Hobbiton which was about an hour’s drive away.

Called in booked accommodation. All sorted with the Asian owner. Just on the day to check in got called 2 times asking are we still coming, because they forgot to take credit card details. Rude Asian guy money minded. On arrival no greetings had to pay quickly. Website pictures are not what the room really looks life.. Completely different and dirty. Rugs worn out. Mattress had blood stain hair on pillow case..disgusting

Worst room I have ever seen, not even worthy enough for an animal. Filthy chairs, cigarette buds, etc. Rudest owner/manager I have come across. Martin (owner/Manager) need to learn some manners. 0 out of 10

Their website is completely misleading. The rooms are disgusting. Mouldy, dirty, dusty, grimy. Empty light sockets, broken fan that fell and hit my child, peeling paint, dents in doors. Bathroom and spa room damp with rotting wood floors and furniture. Spa stained and most uninviting. And to top it all off people in the rooms opposite, screaming profanities at each other and honking their car horn at 1am. Was a relief to get out of there.
