We love the atmosphere and al staff are very helpful.Rooms and beds are very spacious and comfortable and the option an ensuite is always a bonus. There is a pretty big kitchen with all the amenities you want and lots of seating room. There is also some nice outside seating areas. On slight negative some of it...

When I came to Taupo U didn't expect to love this place so much. The town itself is of perfect size and beauty, but this hostel made me feel so comfortable and welcome, that I ended u staying about a month!! Either the friendly staff and the atmosphere has given me the best stay I had all around New Zealand!...

Having stayed at a lot of backpackers on South Island where we had been blown away by what backpackers are like now days (we stayed in a lot of smaller places which had a personal feel and which had a lot of though into décor, and felt like small B&Bs rather than hostels) we were a little disappointed by this...

I'm happy with our choice to stay here for a couple nights while we were in Taupo. The guy at reception was really friendly and although we had booked all of our activities already, they were prepared to help do that if we hadn't. I loved the porch outside and their adorable dog (which the board said you can take...

This is the worst hostel I've ever stayed. It's extremly noisy during the night and the owner is very unfriendly. I had to change my reservation because of unexpected health problems and I could stay only one night instead of three. At my arrival the owner got very aggressive when I told him this and showed him my injured leg...

Hi and welcome to Taupo's original and favourite backpackers. Rainbow lodge was purpose built and designed for the needs of travellers by Mark Dumble (fishing expert??) and Sue Mrozinski themselves seasoned travellers.
