We decided to stay at Wairakei because it was central to the 8 ladies who were getting together again after first meeting on a Tour of Europe in 2014. There were 14 kiwi's on that Tour so it was great to catch up with some of them again.

We have stayed at Wairakei many times. The last visit was equally as good as previously experienced :- Quiet well appointed room with a very comfortable bed, Delicious dinner in the Pavilon Restaurant, Friendly helpful staff & good value at $169 for the room including breakfast for two.

We met up with friends from another part of the country for a weekend away. We both had twin rooms as there were no king rooms available - each room had two double beds and it was fine. The rooms had a modern, fresh decor and the shower had great pressure. Yes the resort is dated but it wasn't shabby,... More

We were travelling around North Island and had pre booked this hotel.Huge reception area and very clean hotel.Enjoyed our stay apart from some very noisey people in the room above who were out late at night on their balcony.Another time we would get a first floor room.Room was fine and splendid evening meal and breakfast. We like quiet hotels and could... Not knowing this resort, it was in some trepidation that I booked rooms for my overseas visitors, for a three-night sojourn during the recent spell of fine weather. They are very experienced travellers, and I hoped that they would at least find the accommodation satisfactory. I am happy to say that my fears proved unfounded: Wairakei Resort is not to... More

Lovely hotel set amongst acres of well maintained gardens. Great service and well appointed rooms. Plenty of parking even if you have your boat with you. I was in the 700 block which had fantastic rooms. It is a wee way out of town but that also means its quiet at night.

The decor maybe a bit "retro 80's" in places, but I love this hotel! Our room was clean and the bed coverings were stylish and sheeting high quality and I loved having a balcony to sit on as our room got the afternoon sun. The buffet breakfast that was included in our package was super impressive with the restaurant having... More

We were driving past and were lured in by the special rate. There is 1.5% surcharge for cards and no toaster in room so upgraded to the b&b rate which turned out to be very good value for the extra $10. The hotel resort grounds have a hot stream passing through which heats the two outside pools to 36 C.... More

Excellent location sadly the rooms are tired. Room 708 had only a bedside lamp working, the room was not very clean, someone’s socks were left on the floor with a bit of rubbish under the suitcase holder – all the cleaners needed to do was bend down and they would have found them. Outside of the exterior door needed vacuuming.... More

Stayed last weekend for a family reunion...room 708. Under the suitcase shelf there was a pair of socks and some paper....and it did not belong to us. There was a large group of us meeting in the bar at 5 pm. ..the hotel had the itinerary but only the one barman...I waited 15 minutes in a queue for a drink... More
