This is the third time we have stayed here, this time we stayed in the Edwardian House in a Queen room with kitchenette. What a disappointment! On the plus side the bathroom looked like it had been recently renovated. But the room with the 'kitchen facilities' was terrible. A kettle, a microwave and a fridge rammed into a free standing unit that did not fit in the room, very very shabby. It really needs looking at. I am sure the newer rooms are great. The best thing about Apollo Lodge this time has to be the free parking, most places in Wellington charge $25 a night to park a car, so take this into account when looking at prices. It is in a great position for walking into town and driving to or from the ferry.

Lovely clean unit .. good comfortable beds and furnishings.. microwave kettle etc … and laundry facilities. Inside unit, plenty of room! Also a great spot, walking distance close to the city and bus stop nearby. Parking available. Good wifi connection and tv selection of channels including netflix. Super helpful and friendly reception staff , thank you! We were going to stay two nights but booked another as we liked it here so much!

Have stayed here many times over the years as is really well positioned to park up and walk or catch buses etc. Have not stayed for a couple of years and had not yet stayed in the newer rooms. Booked a newer room. No lift (that I could see?). Arrived and the unit smelt like some one had just been to the toilet (#2s!). Also didn't 'feel' clean? So, yes skid marks in toilet, an old wet towel behind the door and an old t-shirt under a shelf. Clearly a rush job at best to 'clean' the unit before we arrived. The beds looked freshly made, just had to hope they had been. Was later in the evening so didnt report the concerns until the morning. Response was polite and the unit was cleaned. It felt and looked clean after that. Would have appreciated a taken reduction at least in the charge but this was not offered. Would I stay again? Yes probably but one more bad cleaning experience I would call it quits.

Upon check in, we were given a musty room in the old annex with no kitchen facilities at all; we were expecting a kitchenette. The staff member gave us a different room in the same building with a full kitchen. This room was still musty with old carpets & a saggy bed. The only other option was $200NZD more. We kept that room but dined out. The room was quite noisy with noise from people outside, traffic passing, and. a wind storm. On the 2nd night, we came back to small insects (ants?) crawling over the kitchen counter and floor. No food had been left out & the kitchen was clean. Although we informed the staff by email about the insect problem, they did not even reply to the email. Although the location was convenient for walking everywhere in central Wellington, we would not recommend staying in the “Edwardian” rooms at the Apollo. If you can be certain you are getting a modernized room in a different building at the Apollo, your stay might be different from ours. However, for the price we paid ($569NZD) for 2 nights, we think we could have found somewhere cleaner and quieter.

Room Tip: Do not book an Edwardian room. The pictures do not match the reality at all.

We stayed for one night and it was a perfect location right in central Wellington and also close to the harbour. Parking was a plus. As it was a Monday night it was pretty dead in Wellington, so not to many places to eat close by.

We, (3 adults and 2 teenagers) stayed here in Dec 2022 and it was brilliant. The location is perfect being close to Courtenay Place cafes etc. We walked easily to Te Papa and cable car as well as noticing it was a short walk to the Basin Reserve. It was close to Weka Studio and Mt Vic. The room was spacious, well appointed and clean. Car parking was safe too so we'll definitely look at staying here again and would highly recommend.

I stayed here for 4 nights during the WOW show in the city. Location is perfect, close walking distance into the city, New World Supermarket, Oriental Parade, Te Papa and to bus transport. Flat walking distance to Trust Bank Arena taking the path along the waterfront. Free parking is available but it is on a first come first served basis, there is no designated parking spot per unit and parking spaces are not marked out. On occasions, some guests' large work vehicles reduced/occupied much of the available parking space. Room was clean, bed comfortable, basic toiletries, kitchen amenities ok. Visit during WOW and school holidays meant accommodation prices were at the high end.

I have stayed here several times before as it is a very handy location to everything we want. I haven’t been for a couple of years and have noticed a decline in the condition of the rooms. We had 3 rooms- one had a tv that didn’t work and despite us telling them, this wasn’t fixed while we were there. It also has expired milk in the fridge and a questionable brown stain on the duvet. The one I stayed in was almost impossible to unlock the door to get in. The cups were dirty and the paint was peeling off the vanity and hallway, as well as hair in the shower. Not pleasant. On the plus side the beds were very comfortable. I doubt we will be back which is disappointing.

I have stayed here before but this time we got a room in the Big Villa situated on the property. Has free parking and walking distance to all the attractions in Wellington. Room was very clean and had all we needed for the couple of days spent there. Staff very helpful and friendly. Couple of restaurants within a couple of minutes walk.
