I stayed at the YMCA for 3 nights during a trip around NZ and it is honestly one of the cleanest hostels I've ever stayed in. The rooms were spacious, with handy shelves about each bed. Only complaint would be lack of electrical sockets. Luckily I always bring my own extension plug but 4 sockets to a room of 6...

We (mature age couple) have been staying at the Y in Christchurch for over a decade. What you see is what you get - economical, unpretentious, solid and dependable. In shaky Christchurch, the latter two attributes are really important. When we first came back after the earthquakes, locals were interested in where we had found accommodation . We hadn't realised...

The sheets on my bed were dirty on arrival and appeared as if they hadn't been changed or washed since the last guest used them. The kitchen is very small for the number of people using it. The WiFi is expensive. Some - but not all - of the staff were very friendly and helpful.

this accommodation is for people on a budget. rooms are clean and warm. Shared bathroom but right outside the bedrooms .the location is great with a coffee shop down stairs and only a short walk into the city centre .tram stop and museum at the end of the street. well worth the stay.

Stayed here for 3 nights in July in a twin room. Great location in the centre of town. Room was clean. Relaxed and friendly staff at reception and the travel desk. Easy process (and cheap) to hire squash courts. Kitchen was the only let down - items weren't in great condition but otherwise a great place to stay.

Good location at city centre with free parking provided. Room was clean but a bit on the small side . Heating worked well . Shared bathrooms which caused some problems as often one had to wait to get in.However there was plenty of hot water for a shower.

We stayed in the two bedroom apartment with 6 people. While the sofa bed was uncomfortable, the room and facilities were quite good. Wifi was reasonably priced however they only allow 1 device per docket so don't expect your group to be able to use the same wifi. Close to everything you'd want to see. I recommend visiting the botanic...

Great location for access to the CBD and food. WIFI was a reasonable price and restaurant had great food. Bathroom facilites could have been cleaner but were still a good standard for the price of the room.

I have a double room on the 3rd Floor, which is quiet and economical. best is that although I have a shared toilet in the lobby, there is so many of them that that's never a issue :).. There is paid WiFi $5 for 24 hours and $25 for a week, speed is great so worth it totally. I get...

Good experience at YMCA. Friendly staff, good service. Excellent free parking facility - very large carpark outside the door which was a huge bonus considering the location. Walking distance to the city centre and opposite the beautiful botanical gardens. We had a large twin room which was warm and comfortable. On the downside it was quite noisy here and the...
