We stayed 2 nights, in one of the units at the front of the property. Everything was clean, nice looking, and comfy, including a decent little mini kitchen. The proprietors are friendly and helpful. The bus to downtown stops right outside and gets you downtown in a few minutes. Only downsides were minor - bathroom lacking counter space and a...

We stayed 3 nights in late January 2016. The apartments are in good condition, with very little noise from the adjoining apts. If you are a light sleeper, you will be disappointed however. The apartments are located on one of Christchurch's busiest roads. We were halfway back in the row, but there is significant noise. Compounded by lack of aircon,...

We stayed at the Merivale Manor motel for 1 night following our overnight flight from Canada. This was a lovely place to hang out and relax on our first day in New Zealand. Our unit was very comfortable, and spotlessly clean. The heating and cooling system works well, and is very quiet. Very comfortable bed after our overnight flight! The...

We stayed overnight on our way to Rotarua . Warren was so welcoming and a wonderful host. We had a lovely spacious room upstairs in this beautiful restored home. They did an excellent job remodeling and still maintaining the integrity of structure. I wish we had more time to stay longer and enjoy the town. Hopeful we can come back

The managers here are absolutely excellent (Graham and Sharlene), they are so helpful and take their time to chat about what there is to do and see in the area, as well as advise on restaurants. Sharlene even looked after the washing for me, saying not to wait for it, just go out and enjoy ourselves and she'd transfer it...

We started our vacation in New Zealand in Christchurch and arrived to the friendliest staff at Merivale Manor. Our room had a lovely kitchenette and a spa tub. We had lovely deck style chairs to sit out in front of the room in the sun. We walked to the Christchurch Botanical Gardens, which were beautiful, and to a local brew...

Very well maintained and comfortable. Bedrooms are a little small and didn't expect it to be 3 levels with living area on second floor so a little challenging for seniors. Stairs are quite narrow as well. Overall very happy with our stay! Keep up the good work.

Christchurch is still very much a city scarred by the Earthquake… Everything still seems makeshift to some extent. The choice of hotels is not as big as elsewhere. Merivale Manor has an excellent reputation, but as usual with Tripadvisor, one has to relate stars to the category of the hotel. Five stars for a motel means something else than five...

Located in the Merivale area near the City Centre, this Manor is a wonderful place to stay at Christchurch. We were welcomed by the very helpful host Warren who guided us for our Christchurch sightseeing itinerary as well. We had a Manor Studio Room 210 on the Ground Floor, which though seemed unsafe at first, but was quite cozy and...
