Room was outstanding and very clean. In The bathroom there were even flowers. Breakfast was an enjoyment. Jan and Mike are Great hosts. We got a lot of helpful hints what to do. YHB&B is the best place if you want to explore Otago Peninsula and Dunedin. In walking distance there are good restaurants. We spent two nights in YHB&B.

We are touring the South Island and stayed at The Yellow House for only one night - had we any more time we would have stayed longer. The Bedroom is beautifully decorated in pale blue - so restful and comfortable. The views over Pudding Island are delightful and Jan is a great hostess. Lovely breakfast in the tower - high...

We stayed for 3 nights in the Yellow house from Jan&Mike. It is a wonderful place from with you can explore Dunedin but also the wildlife, albatross center, yellow eyed penguin and sea lions. The hospitality of the owners of the B&B is fantastic. Breakfast is overwhelming and they gave us a lot of tips to explore.

Spent 3 nights in the Starry Suite, a wonderful large room with a beautiful view of the bay. Jan and Michael were great hosts, friendly and hospitable. Many nice things to do in the vicinity of Portobello, watch the Royal Albatrosses fly or see the Penguins coming in at night. Several nice walks to make nearby. Dunedin ist just 20...

The Yellow House B&B is one of the more ancient buildings in this area. It is however completely modern, in a classical style, on the inside. The rooms are quite large and comfortable and the shower is one of the best we had during our trip through NZ. Landlady Jan is very helpful in many ways, but I would not...

I have to admit one of the main reasons why I chose to stay at the Yellow House was the pictures I saw of the Starry Suite. The glass roof to floor windows to look out of during the day and evening was too good of an experience to pass. We stayed for one night which wasn't long enough to...

We visited for 2 nights. The room was very spacious and with a stunning view surrounded by a very nice garden. Jan does her best for her guests from A to Z. She gave us a lot of info about the surrounding area for the penguin tours available and offered actively to help us book a tour. Also info about...

Yellow House was a fun and Charming B & B. Our hosts were fun and so helpful. We were there 2 nights with another couple. A lovely water view. Easy walk into town of Portobella for dinner. Rooms well appointed. One being a little larger than the other since it had a sitting area. Lovely spot to have our pre- dinner...

I'd just like to put in a mention of the welcome we received at the Yellow House. We visited many B&Bs in our trip to NZ but this was one of the warmest. It is a lovely property but having our clothes washed, dried and folded as a matter of course was a generous touch.

We are long overdue in writing this review from our stay back in March, but better late than never, I hope! We spent three weeks on both islands of New Zealand, and we spent five days in Dunedin (an odd choice to some, as Dunedin is not particularly famous), but it was such a fantastic choice, and Yellow House was...

Tucked into a lovely little bay just above the enchanting “Pudding Island” and before you reach Portobello itself is one of the Peninsula’s original treasures. The 'Yellow House,' as it is known to the locals, dates back to the 1890s and is now a unique sanctuary, offering a variety of luxury accommodation to both the discerning and weary traveller alike. The 'Starry Suite' is situated in a separate wing off the main house. The large bedroom and private relaxation areas offer breathtaking views of the harbour and nearby Pudding Island. A large glass ceiling over the sitting area means guests can gaze up at the star-filled Southern skies on clear nights. A two-person spa bath features in the large en-suite bathroom. Television in own private sitting area. The 'Bedroom' is set in the original house and offers delightful views of both the harbour and garden. So close to the water, guests can listen to the calming sounds of the harbour whilst lying in the beautiful queen-sized bed.
