Spent 2 nights in the Starry suite. Typical Otago weather it was overcast both nights so could not appreciate the heavens. Not the hosts fault that! We had an excellent stay. Spotlessly clean and a very comfortable bed. Bathroom was big with spa bath and separate shower, again spotlessly clean. Lovely breakfast room on the highest level and a good...

We didn't stay in the starry suite but the room was still very nicely decorated. Linens and sheets were very comfortable. Room was very comfortable. Mike and Jan were great hosts. They gave us sightseeing tips and made sure we knew where we were heading. Breakfast was tasty and the dining room had a beautiful view of the bay.

The starry suite was delightful with huge windows looking over the harbour and pudding island the glass area of roof, though we saw no stars. The room was very spacious. The breakfast was superb and served in the 'tower' with similar great views. Jan was very helpfull with local information and helped with bookings. The great attractions of the Banks...

We had the pleasure of staying with Jan and Mike at Yellow House in November. We were in "The Bedroom", a beautiful, private, serene and roomy space, with a large, modern en suite bathroom. We truly felt like we were staying with good friends, Jan & Mike made us instantly feel at home, and they truly went out of their...

First of all, getting there. Coming from Dunedin we could not find a sign anywhere for Portobello, so look out for one saying "Otago Peninsula". The coastal route is a winding, narrow road that seems to go on forever. It is well made but challenging after a long day's drive. Coming around a corner and look out for the Yellow...

We stayed for three nights and were really made to feel at home. Thanks to Jan and Mike for a lovely visit to a beautiful part of New Zealand. We even got to see the sea lions! Travelling with a 15 month old was no problem for our hosts. Some basic kitchen facilities would be handy. The breakfasts were amazing,...

This Bed and Breakfast lived up to its website claims which is not always the case. My partner and I stayed at the Yellow House for two nights from April 11-13, 2012. We had a great water view from "The Bedroom", a very comfortable double bed and modern ensuite bathroom. Jan and Mike went to great trouble to inform us...

This B&B is out on the Otago Peninsula right on the water at Portobello and the view across to Pudding island from our room was stunning. Our hosts, Jan and Michael are delightful people who looked after us with great care and are delightful to have a chat with at the end of the day. We decided to cook our...

My partner and I stayed at the Yellow House for 2 nights at the end of February and loved it. We stayed in the Starry Suite, which has views all around and a partial glass ceiling so you can see the sky at night. The room is (very) large and spacious, with a comfortable bed, an eating area, sofas and...

Television in own private sitting area. The 'Bedroom' is set in the original house and offers delightful views of both the harbour and garden. So close to the water, guests can listen to the calming sounds of the harbour whilst lying in the beautiful queen-sized bed.
