What a beautiful place this is. The host Olivia is one in a million, very welcoming, down to earth and full of knowledge on the area. Lisburn House itself is truly beautiful, with all it's beautiful features, tastefully decorated, and very comfortable. We had two nights here and thoroughly enjoyed it, the breakfasts prepared by Olivia were delicious and a... More

We stayed here for two nights, in the blue room, which, as another reviewer noted, has a private bathroom which is across the hall from the bedroom, however, the room was very comfortable. My one concern is that the house is situated quite some distance from the centre of Dunedin, so you do need a car if you are staying... More

We decided to stay in a B&B instead of the usual bland, corporate mega-hotels and I am so happy for that decision. This place reminded me of the stately homes of Britain. Dark woods, sweeping staircases, chandeliers, roaring fires, wing-back chairs, silver service, bone china, 4 poster beds etc. I had a quick look at the books on the shelf... More

Nice stay. Be aware that rose and blue rooms, the bathroom is across the hall. You have your own bathroom, but you do have to leave your room. Olivia is very friendly and will give you her opinion of places in the area. Location is not downtown, so you will have to take car to get to city center and... More

We stayed here for one night during travels through the South Island. On arrival we were greeted by the friendly and chatty Olivia who saw I was heavily pregnant so upgraded us to the Victorian room (ensuite versus private bathroom). The house is lovely, with lots of small details and interesting history. Everything was clean and tidy, and we had... More

We spent a couple of nights at Lisburn House and really enjoyed it. The house itself has numerous original features including some original fireplaces and ceilings with amazing plasterwork. You can see everywhere the care and attention to detail that has gone into restoring the property and in maintaining it to a very high standard. Olivia & Alan were very... More

We arrived at Lisburn House in awful weather, hail and high winds, but as soon as we were invited in the warmth of the open fire was so inviting, but the warmth of Olivia & Alan (not forgetting Willie) was even better. It was such a pleasure to meet you and share your beautiful home. Nothing was to much trouble,... More

This trip is a sort of second honey moon I planned for my husband because the first one was a disaster ( thanks to a horrible travel agent in India from Goa)... Wow what a wonderful experience we've had so far in NZ. I travelled the world looking for something majestic and found it right here in NZ. Olivia and... More

We have stayed here on the first leg of our New Zealand adventure for 2 nights. Olivia is just exceptional. Her hospitality is second to none and having seen our tiredness last night helpfully suggested we stayed for the 2nd night. Breakfast was delightful, hot and plenty of choice. The house is just an amazing piece of history and as... More

Our stay with Lisburn House was the most memorable accommodation experience during our honeymoon trip in New Zealand. We were entirely overwhelmed by the exquisiteness of this beautifully decorated and well-maintained historic house. The house kept reminding us how much passion and effort that the owners have put into it. We stayed in the Blue Room and felt like walking... More
