Nothing like the pics, it’s lost up in a hill and it wasn’t even that cheap to justify how bad it was. WiFi wouldn’t work in the room, nor the tv which you could only stream your device to it but did I mention there’s no WiFi working?? We did get a decent enough night sleep and then tried to grab breakfast as it was included... we may as well have had a discount on the nights rate and not get breakfast. Crowded, hardly anything available to eat, waiting ages for mugs for a cup of coffee... cleanliness could also be improved throughout the entire property!

Reavers Lodge was one of the cheaper options I found in Queenstown. The room had everything I needed and is only a 10 minute walk into the town centre. There is plenty of parking and I had a great view from my level 3 room. The only downside to the room was that the bed was in a loft with a sloping roof. Being fairly tall I had to start ducking at the third last step and by the time I got to the top I found it easier to crawl to get onto the bed. I'm sure all the rooms are not like mine though. There is a bar and restaurant on site. I ate here one night and it was possibly the worst meal I've ever paid for. In summary Reavers is good value for money for accomodation, just don't eat there.

Dark, tiny rooms with paper-thin walls, the only redeeming feature of this place was its relative cheapness and proximity to the centre. Don't stay if you can avoid it and if you can't avoid it, don't stay for more than one night.
We stayed for two nights (pre booked) and on the first night had a tap-dancing rhinoceros in the room above. On the second night, we had a bigger room with the bedroom on the mezzanine, but if you sat up in bed too suddenly, you banged your head on the ceiling. Not a great experience.

We booked this quickly and in haste, like many of the other reviews you’ll read you realise this isn’t a good place to stay.

Positives:
The staff do try and help where they can (honestly I think they realise it’s a bit of a dump so try their best)
The room was tidy enough.

Negatives:
Ultimately there are 3 main problems:

1. There is no kitchen facility, they make out it is but honestly it’s so small you couldn’t swing a cat around in it.

It is also next to the laundry so you’ll only end up smelling someone’s freshly washed clothes with your food.

Even then the area is filthy, as whoever does use the kitchen “never clean up their mess” it’s likely living with teenagers. My wife visited here 5/6 years ago and there was a MASSIVE kitchen which has now been blocked off as they use this kitchen to make pizzas for the upstairs cafe. It’s a real joke please see the picture attached and ask yourself can this area accommodate 60+ rooms cooking?

2. There is no consideration of noise after 10pm. I can appreciate some noise due to it being a hostel with young travellers in, but when it gets to midnight/1am/2am and you can here some moron singing the 20th rendition of “Mambo No. 5 or Sweet Caroline” it gets a bit much.

3. Linked to the point above but there is no night warden. If there was this said night warden could tell rooms when they are being noisy.

I will make sure that when friends ask for recommendations in Queenstown to tell them to steer clear of this place. Get a proper kitchen and deal with the noise and it might be different.

I wouldn't want to go into all of the detail and take up your time. Here's how I would summarise; (1) there is no way that this property can be classified as a 3.5 star (at Expedia). I would rate it as a 2-2.5 star, (2) the hosts/people are sincerely helpful however it is not practically possible for them to address everything that is not right during the course of your stay, (3) It is an incredibly central location, (4) you get what you pay for, and I too should have known, (5) ideally suited for low cost young travelers and groups (in comparison to other accommodation in Queenstown), (6) the bar & cafe on site is reasonably priced and provides good value food. Unfortunately I would not stay here again even if it was free, and there are too many things that were wrong.

We stayed in Reavers for 4 nights.
The place was filthy!!!!!
We were out most nights but even when we came back at 2am the noise in the accommodation made it impossible to sleep.. even after a heap of pints.
The breakfast was standard.
The views from one of our rooms were of rubbish bags piled 5ft high.
The door was broke on our room.
The laundry is $4 per wash and another $4 per dryer.
The hill up the the accommodation is a tough walk and the first thing you see is bins overflowing.
Wouldnt be recommending.

Was kept awake until after midnight by the people who were in the room above us by a party going on with loud music and a lot of people talking loudly. Noise stopped a bit after midnight then at around 3.30am-5.40am the party continued, multiple phone calls were made to the "Onsite Manager" about the noise and music and it quieted down for a bit but started up again turns out it was the Onsite Manager who was the one partying. I went to reception and explained the above and asked to speak to the Manager, the Manager wasn't going to be avaliable for a couple of hours the lady at reception did say sorry and offered to change our room but luckily we were only staying for one. I am absolutely disgusted to know that this is what Management do are are this inconsiderate of the guests staying at the lodge. There are clear signs around the property stating all noise after 10pm will incur immediate fine or eviction, does this apply to Management?

We stayed in one of the lofts up 6 flights of stairs sorry guys there is no lift so pack light.
We were in room 94 which is right next door to the main door, other reviews state that it can be noisy due to all the banging, this wasnt the case and the place was full of people we didnt hear it bang at all. The loft is up a steep ladder so I recommend that you stay sober. The bathroom is tiny but the shower was always lovely and hot so we weren't overly concerned about the space. The TV needs to be hooked up to a chromecast or external harddrive.
The parking, so first come first serve, we noticed a few clever drivers who used their imagination when it came to parking, if you lucked out then you had to park down the hill and climb the steep hill up to your room. A bit of a tip when parking... park early as it gets busy around the 4.30pm nark, walk into town (15 mins) then either walk back or catch a cab.
The staff we very helpful and I cant fault them at all, they offer a continental breakfast at the restaurant which views you an amazing view. Overall this is my second time staying at Reavers I wanted my kids to experience what we did the first time round. Oh the spa was out of order, however the grounds are a lot cleaner just dont walk round the back.
Will I be back..... yeah I think so.

All I can say is... DO NOT stay here. The rooms have a funny mould/smoke smell. On the 1st night we were kept awake by a very loud party. The party could have been in our room it was that loud. I called noise control and they didn’t sound surprised when I told them we were staying at this hell hole. The walls are paper thin and you can hear every sound from your neighbours as well as people coming home in the early hours of the morning. My husband thought someone was coming into our room it was that loud. The beds are terrible and you can feel every spring in the mattress. The lady below us had a go because our kids were just walking normally on the floor and our car got hit in their crap as car park. I agree with others. This place needs shut down. You couldn’t pay me to stay there again.

The room is what you pay for, small bathroom but it was all we needed for our time at the snow. They made ski rentals very easy and not too expensive, transfers to the mountain were easy and accessible. The worst part was the massive steep hill you had to walk up and down to get into town ! But it was a 5-7 min walk into town which was very good

I think they are private. The standard of this place is 'backpackers' . Even the apartments. Breakfast isvery basic and you are expected to wash up after yourself.
