We stayed here for 2 nights during our holiday on the South Island, and were made to feel so welcome by our host George, his friendly staff and his gorgeous dog, Ben. We stayed in several B and B's during our holiday, and this was by far our favourite. The building was unique, and the place felt like a real...

Hello!! So nice to read your review, and to know that you had a great stay with us. Isn`t it the way with travelling - that you find a delightful place, but all to often trip plans draw you away to the next amazing location!! We`d love to see you again some time, maybe this is the taster for future...

The Te Anau lodge was one of the highlights of our trip. It starts with George, who makes you feel immediately at home and comfortable. He is kind, generous, and goes out of his way to create a pleasant atmosphere. The location is perfect too, a short drive outside of town, and overlooks the beautiful lake and mountains. We were...

My friends and I were in the south island for 11 days and stayed at 9 places. Te Anau Lodge is be far my favorite. No only the building itself is very unique, but also the manager George really made it felt like home. It was very nicely decorated, and the breakfast was excellent. George was very warm and helpful,...

Hello!! So happy you had a great stay with us!! Lovely that George and Ben are definitely common factors in all our positive reviews :-) It`s a lovely building isn`t it!! We feel so lucky to be able to share it with so many people!! Don`t think of it as a "good bye", maybe just more of a "see you...

You don't usually associate convents with comfort, warmth, luxury, hospitality. Yet we experienced all of these at Te Anau Lodge. The host, George, and his staff made us welcome the moment we arrived, urging us to take advantage of all they have to offer - free drinks in the upstairs library/lounge, lift into town, open-air chess on the sprawling lawn...

Hello!! Thank you kindly for your review. It`s lovely to read your open opinion of the stay you had with us. We really enjoy the constant reference to George`s warm hospitality, and to the level of engagement he`ll share with you when you`re visiting. We`ve actually just been on a journey through the South Island ourselves, and made a point...

The proprietor, George, made our stay in the convent outstanding. He made us feel at home right away. He had recommendations about activities, restaurants and hiking. There was tea, coffee and wine with biscuits in the lounge area and a balcony overlooking the property or picnic tables to enjoy it on. The rooms are full of vintage furnishings with updated...

Staying in the belfry sounded interesting, especially when it was a delightful, comfortable room instead of a bell tower. The moved, restored convent provided excellent accommodations with beautiful woodwork, stained glass windows, and comfortable furnishings. George and his staff welcomed us warmly and helped with recommendations for nearby restaurants and sightseeing. Breakfast was delicious and filling to support us during...

Marvellous place to stay - we stayed 3 nights. The building used to be an old Convent. George so welcomimg and could not do enough to ensure the comfort of his guests. Delicious afternoon tea each day. Huge garden to wander around. Very quiet location on the outskirts of town. Handy base for doing Milford Sound.

Hello!! So glad you enjoyed your stay with us, it`s really nice to hear you appreciate the large grounds and location in town as we do. I was booked into the YHA in Te Anau while my family had booked into Te Anau lodge.
