Our first destination in the South Island was the little town of Westport. My husband and I were pleasantly surprised when we were shown to our bedroom which included a little bathroom. Beautiful windows allowed lots of sunlight into the room. The bed was so comfortable and warm it provided the most amazing night sleep after a very long day...

Plentyful parking just outside the hostel, we stayed in the tiny pink caravan. Travelling as a couple we usually just stay in dorms to save the odd buck here and there but after seeing the caravan on booking.com we just had to stay here. It was small but we managed to fit in all of our luggage and even had...

This hostel I always choose to stay in when in Westport as it is so close to everything. It is also lovely and clean with a new ablution block plus beautiful grounds and seating out on the deck. The kitchen is huge with everything you would need. There are choices of bunk rooms or your own private room too. You...

We stayed in a private room which was very nice. In the common area there were DVDs, books and board games which was good. The manager is extremely strict, this is a place that Stray stay at, and the majority of Stray travellers are young adults. He kept coming and really shouting at us just for playing card & board...

The building was converted from a bungalow with ancient history which has great and detailed interior. But the dorm that I stayed was way outside the cost building even when the dorm in the building is vacant. Limited wifi, poor heating in the room. They do have a good kitchen and new built toilets and shower which were still cold...

TripInn Hostel staff are friendly, rooms are spotless, kitchen and bathroom facilities also immaculate. Beautiful old high ceiling villa with plenty of rooms. Ours was at the top story with an onsuite and a view of Westport. Plenty of gas cookers, microwaves and bench top ovens. Huge fridges and shelving for food to be stored. Lovely seated deck area and...

Awesome villa that feels like entering a nice and coasy house. Dorms were clean and quiet with good mattresses. Kitchen is very big and the dining room looks like an old English room, very nice. Outside there is an area to relax and bbq. Showers and toilets are clean, showers react on the other showers so you don't have a...

Lovely hostel with very friendly staff. One of the few hostels in NZ where you get free WiFi. The rooms are clean and quite big (compared to other hostels). There is nice porch and some hammocks. The kitchen is really big and organised.

Nice hostel with comfy beds, decent sized rooms, big garden and good sized kitchen. However the free wifi is only 100mb and it's definitely a hostel for relaxing and not party. The bathrooms are in a bit of an awkward location for some rooms but overall is a good hostel and had a nice stay.
