My husband and I stayed in one of the rooms in the lodge while on our honeymoon. Our experience could not have been better. Andre and Alison were perfect hosts. When our plans were thwarted by a road closure, they helped us to devise a new route, called around to find a new hotel for us the following night, and...

We stayed for two nights in the Cottage - this was fabulous - private, fully appointed and loved the baths outside. We enjoyed our package of massages and dinner included - just what we needed. We then moved to the lodge for the night - just as comfortable - with great views and spa available. Loved the breakfast. All great...

This B&B provides immaculate and delightful rooms as well as a generous common area and spotless hot tub in a peaceful and beautiful setting. Allison and Andre are very thoughtful hosts who go out of their way to provide a comfortable stay. Breakfast is amazing! Allison is an accomplished chef and it shows. We stayed in the Ferryman's cottage and it was a real treat to find such a lovely spot. The scenery is stunning and the accommodation is very comfortable. We had the wood burning stove on in the evening and enjoyed a home cooked meal from Alison. The food was excellent and Alison and Andre were great hosts with lots of...

Our trip planner scheduled Birds Ferry Lodge for us and we saw it had very good reviews. Westport is an older, somewhat sad town and we didn't know what to expect for the B&B. The owners are both very ecologically minded and the Lodge is gorgeous. All wood, spacious, looks brand new. The grounds are amazing, they are always planting...

I would like to take Mike the Norfolk Terrier away with us to HK, but Alison is not allowing this. Our hosts, Alison is an amazing chef and her husband offer therapeutic massages in bee wax just under the same roof. And they only uses the most concentrated real aromatherapy products here, made with love! It felt like home instantly,...

Located on the west coast of New Zealand, Bird's Ferry Lodge is a remarkable place. Location is excellent for exploring the beautiful west coast ('stunning' is a much overused phrase, but it's well-deserved here). The lodge and cottage are beautiful but not overwhelming in their luxury - a perfect mix of comfort in an authentic New Zealand setting. And the...

This was our second visit to the Ferryman's cottage at Bird's Ferry. It is a great place to stay, the cottage is self-contained and very private, in clearing with a forest outlook and a large pond with ducks. The facilities are great with lovely linen, and delightful amenities (we both really liked the lavender soap!). The logburner is a great...

I just returned from my stay at Bird's Ferry, my father and I were traveling together and stayed at the Ferry Man's Cottage. This is absolutely one of my favorite places in the world. Alison and Andre are so welcoming and provide wonderful, "spot on" suggestions for sites to see and restaurants in the area. Alison even prepared us a...
