Detailed Reviews
We stayed here overnight for my husband’s birthday and Steamers was just the perfect place. A good value for our money as it was affordable, clean, comfortable and quiet with charming historic atmosphere and very friendly. Brent, our host was very accommodating and personable and had a lot of knowledge of the building’s history and area. You can tell that the b&b is a labour of love for him and his family and they have taken great care into maintenance of the historic charm of this Regency era house. Their kitty, Mary-Ann (who is a Munchkin breed) was a little doll of a cat! Was as sociable and friendly as a dog and was also a great host! We felt very welcome.
Our bed was comfy and our breakfast was large portioned and delicious, as well as our espresso drinks. This place is also licensed if you want to just come in for some nice ale or a cocktail.
Parking was easy as there weren’t many guests there other than ourselves, so it was very quiet. I’m not sure how this place would be during high season, however, Gagetown is pretty small and quaint, so I suspect t even in the busiest of months it is still pretty quaint and peaceful, as the house is large and can accommodate a good amount of people without a lot of noise or disturbances (other than an automatic old doorbell that goes off everytime someone walks in or out..).
Overall, We were pleased in our stay and will be back if we’re ever in Gagetown again overnight. Highly recommend.

If you ever wanted to write the great Canadian novel or go into the witness protection program, this century home is the place for you. On a tributary of the Saint John River that once had steamships plying its waters, the inn has fascinating antiques and historic prints. It is furnished in original furniture and chestnut, maple and oak paneling.
With a wrap-around verandah, you can enjoy the peace of the riverbank while having a delicious home-cooked breakfast. Do try the omelet and the homemade baked goods.
The Dawson family is so very welcoming, we'll be sure to include this idyllic spot in our annual travel itinerary.

My wife and I have often come here with friends/family for cocktails and have loved it. Incredible drinks and a stunning atmosphere. The owners are exentric and have made it truly unique.
I stayed overnight for the first time with some friends last night and was pleasantly surprised with how well kept and clean everything was. It was comfortable, functional, charming and rustic. The staff/owners were very attentive and accommodating. Very cool spot, would recommend.

The Steamer Stop Inn is now under new management of the Banks Family, long standing residence of Gagetown. The menu has been revised and updated, keeping some old favorites, seafood chowder, chicken dumplings, and adding more health conscious dishes, greek/garden/ceasar salads as well as various soups and sandwiches. The Restaurant and Accommodations have been recently remodeled, with the May Queen Room acting as a Honeymoon Suite.

This is an old review, sadly probably the last guest to stay at the Inn before Emily, (the next review) almost a decade later. We are happy to be open and looking forward to welcoming and meeting everyone who experienced the Inn years ago.

We stayed one night at Steamers as we were in need of a room after driving all day from western Quebec. We booked a room based on recommendations from others. On arrival, we were cordially met and showed our room by the owners' son. He also provided information regarding a nearby restaurant for dinner - good suggestion. We did know that the B&B did have cats (READ THE FINE PRINT IN THE DESCRIPTION), but generally cats in other B&Bs we've stayed at don't have the run of the house as these did. Fortunately they did not trigger my allergies as we slept. The building is a nicely maintained old inn with nice antique furnishings. And we had a nice view of the river from our room. Unfortunately, we didn't have any drinking glasses in our room though they provided bottled water.
Sadly, the owners had their personal belongings scattered everywhere in the common areas. Breakfast was a simple hot meal, filling but not memorable. The cereal bar could have used some refreshing, and fresh fruit could have been made available. They did make a good capuchino.
We did have a nice visit with Gary, one of the owners, and did learn a little about their efforts to operate Steamers; however, we feel they could do a little more with housekeeping to make an average operation into a superior one.

We visited Gagetown for a family memorial. We found Steamers online and booked.
Steamers is a quaint turn of the century home with a lot of great character furniture pieces throughout. Steamers is under new ownership and they are currently doing renovations. The owners are very personable and accommodating. If you're a cat lover they have two that are around. I have a cat allergy however I was not bothered by them at all. They kind of keep to themselves unless you invite them over.
They have a pub onsite with a unique menu of cocktails. The veranda in the back overlooks the river and it is extremely peaceful, the perfect place to enjoy your drinks! They made us a delicious breakfast the morning of our stay which included eggs, bacon, hash browns, and toast. We sat outside again and enjoyed the view.
The rooms are nice and have all antique pieces. The beds were comfortable.. Only thing I personally didn't enjoy was the pillows. I found them too big so my neck was tilted up which I found uncomfortable. There are washrooms attached to the bedrooms. I like the touch of the robes in the rooms as well as the container of make up pads, qtips, and cotton balls. Something you never think of but always manage to need when you're away.
This bed and breakfast is on the same street as the food market as well as shops. Right down the street from another pub as well as a couple restaurants within walking distance. We enjoyed our stay !

We stumbled on this house when searching for alternate accommodation and this little gem was a lovely surprise. The host was welcoming and couldn't have been more accommodating and the room was lovely. No tv, but good wifi, clean, comfortable and quite spacious with a great view. We loved it. Yes, there are cats, but I love cats and these were friendly so no problem there. Would have been nice to stay longer.

The antiques and cats made me feel right at home immediately. The family that runs this inn is knowledgeable and warm. We were given every courtesy and more in order to feel comfortable. The view from the porch was lovely. We walked to the Sunday farmers market and had a great time. The breakfasts were delicious and we are thinking of visiting again.

My sister, my niece, and I stayed at Steamers for four nights in mid-April, 2017. Our hosts Gary and Lisa could not have been more hospitable and helpful. The breakfasts were always hot, hearty enough for a soldier, and varied each day. (The to-die-for maple syrup was very dark and top quality!) Especially appreciated were Gary's skill at bartending, and his innovative cocktail recipes. Above and beyond the call of duty, Gary and Lisa also gave me tremendously valuable and much appreciated input on a speech which I was writing. So we look forward to staying at Steamers again whenever we travel to Gagetown Village.
