My daughter and I did an overnight stay on the way home from a big road trip. The pool was one thing I was looking forward to but sadly, the pool’s chlorinator was out of action at the time.
The hotel’s undercover parking was appreciated, with local hail warnings during our stay (none eventuated fortunately).

The room was spacious and modern, with a kitchen, a separate bathroom with spa, and also a separate toilet/laundry room.
The kitchen i included all cooking utensils and cutlery so you could stock up at the supermarket and eat cheap if you were so inclined.
My daughter claimed the bed and I got lumped with the sofa bed. Not the most comfy sleep but i eventually dozed off.
My daughter used the bath but was hesitant to turn the spa on as it was quite late and the spa generates a bit of noise.

The balcony has a perfect view of the Chase and Murrays, it would be a fantastic stay during the Great Race. On the 4th floor, the balcony is actually shared (ie. the dividers stop short of the railing) but people mostly stayed within their areas. 5th floor and above have personal balconies.
The prices on race day would be prohibitive for me, with the highly sought after rooms fetching 6 or 7 times the regular nightly rate with a 5 night min stay.
However I would gladly stay here again outside of race times, and do a few on-the-limit (60km/h) laps of the track while I’m there.

We have stayed a few times in the Deluxe Studio which has a living area, laundry/second toilet and very functional kitchinette with dishwasher and full size fridge. The rooms are quiet and have ceiling to floor windows/door onto a balcony. Rooms are modern with large bathroom and spa bath.
Staff are always friendly and helpfull.
Have stayed in a number of hotels in Bathurst. Rydges is our preferred accommodation for a small apartment with kitchenette.

Room was very clean , well thought out, decor and colour scheme just worked, everything in the room just worked. Bed very comfortable, slept like a log, no outside noises, no noise from guests using lifts or passageways, aircon quite when in use. Food in restaurant well presented, very good quality and not over-priced. Staff very courteous. We happened to be onsite when 120 rooms were booked out by a state schools hockey competition yet at no time was there any issues from the teenagers re noise or being unable to use the amenities. Well done all round.

My husband and I booked this stay back in January and was our 1st Wedding Anniversary weekend which I mage note of in the booking thinking like almost all other hotels that maybe a bottle of complimentary wine would be given as a congratulations or nice gesture, sadly there was no mention at all on check in and no complimentary anything was given. I was disappointed.
This was our second time staying here and it seems a few things have changed since our stay in March 2021.

Within 5 minutes of getting into our room we had to be moved as the airconditioning unit was leaking water all over the floor.
When, I believe it was the hotel supervisor for that day came up to our room and gave us the new room key/card he told us were moving you to this room and it 'should' be ok. So obviously shifted us to a room that they did not check prior to moving us.

We were given a room service menu on check in and an information sheet including the WiFi password. Unfortunately we left these when we moved rooms and did not get a chance to read the part where if you want your room cleaned and fresh towels you need to hang something on the door instructing room service to do it.
This was not necessary on our last stay and when I called reception advising our room had not been refreshed I was advised things have changed and you need to request it. This is perhaps something you should advise guests on when they are checking in? Especially if it has changed in the past 12 months.

Room service is only available between 6-830pm. Really?

On check out thry tried to charge us an additional $60 for goodness knows what and I had to go through our charges with them until they agreed I was correct.

The only real positive about this stay was Mel at the reception desk was pleasant and friendly.
Expected more from such a large hotel chain...

We spent 3 nights in a deluxe spa studio for the Bathurst 6 hour which was an overall enjoyable experience.

The room was well appointed with a full kitchen inc oven and dish drawer, huge 2 person spa bath, older flatscreen tv (no casting) and aircon unit. The room was mainly original however was clean and comfortable and stayed reasonably warm without heating given the outside temp was 13 deg. The views of the racetrack were spectacular however note levels 3 and 4 have a shared balcony - everyone stayed in front of their own rooms though. Request a higher floor if you want a private balcony.

One thing that was frustrating was the limited hours of the on site restaurant Chicane Bar and Grill. It was closed between 9am weekdays/10am weekends (when the buffet breakfast finishes) and 6pm. No room service breakfast or lunch at all and only a 2.5 hour window for dinner from a limited menu. There is also no dinner service at all on Sundays. You can’t even get a barista coffee during the day. We had to order delivery through menulog from the local restaurants which was fast and good though, one of the Indian restaurants even delivered to our room.

Overall it was a decent trip and we would stay again based on the location, just make sure you plan for food in advance.

The staff were friendly and efficient at both checkin and checkout. The room (203) was generous in size and, although we didn't require the facilities, it was clearly well setup to cater for guests with mobility and assistance needs (accessible shower and toilet, large bathroom layout, low bench heights, etc.). The bed was comfortable and the kitchenette facilities were good but the room felt a little tired and in need of a refresh (e.g. marked/damaged furniture). We enjoyed the track and Mt Panorama views (once the fog cleared) but found the communal balcony across the front of most units on our floor a little off-putting from a privacy point of view (not obvious when we booked). While the property provides excellent access to the race track, we found that the location was a little further than expected from the shops, cafes and restaurants in town. In the end it was a lack of attention to the "little things" that made this just an average experience - no milk in the fridge when we arrived, no refresh of tea and coffee when the room was made up, a tray left on the corridor floor outside the room for a day and a flickering corridor light during our entire stay. Otherwise, we did have a pleasant stay.

Dear 745robe, Thanks for you feedback, your correct you were in a accessible rooms as this was the room type that had been booked & because the hotel was extremely busy we were unable to offer you a complimentary upgrade. May I suggest you book a deluxe studio/spa suite next time as these rooms are on higher floors & have a private balcony along with a full walk in shower & a free standing spas bath. You'll be pleased to know the flicking light has been replaced, as we were waiting on parts, as the whole light fixture was faulty. even though we are 4 kms from the centre of town I do hope you choose to stay with us the next time your in Bathurst. Kind regards, Shawn

Stayed in August for a soccer tournament. Staff were friendly and very helpful.

However, a few improvements are needed, rooms are very dusty...it looks like phones, tablets etc hadn't been dusted in years! Under the bed was also dusty. Breakfast is a bit pricey for what you get so only went one day and didn't go back. For that price, it needs a bit more options. Water should be complimentary $6 for 2 bottles leaves a bad taste in one's mouth....

Overall not a bad stay. Would go back.

We usually stay a couple to a few nights but did just a one nighter to have a break. As always quick, easy check in with great staff in reception. We stay on the 6th floor in one of the 1 bedroom suites, it is the perfect spot to watch cars going around Mt Panorama or watch the planes fly over, we were lucky to have a warmer day to enjoy the pool, the area is neat and very tidy the water was lovely. The room was lovely and clean,( bed is so comfortable!.)housekeeping takes great pride in their work. When you pass any staff they always greet you and make you feel welcome. All covid protocols are in place, and all staff wearing masks. Buffet Breakfast is on in mornings, we didn't have dinner tonight. This is a great place to stay for corporate guests, couples, families it pretty much caters for everyone. Looking forward already to our next stay.

Our stay was just for overnight, but we were very impressed. We wanted a comfortable, quiet stay and that's exactly what we got. The room was luxurious and spacious with a balcony for those interested in watching the races. As there was an excellent full kitchen facility in our room, we brought our own food so didn't use the restaurant. The beds were literally a dream - we had such a restful sleep, we're considering purchasing the same mattress! We were on the lobby level, and given it was the night before the races started, it was very quiet. Lastly, the staff were most helpful. I couldn't recommend this hotel more highly.

"Great view of the straight and Mount Panorama – that is the big sell point and good value (at least when we went – sure the $$ go sky high for the major events. The large shared terrace was interesting
Now the not so good for our trip…..The pillows were lumpy and this should have been picked up by housekeeping – glad we took our own. The AC was noisy and there was no way we could sleep with it on. Shower over the bath, not easy to get in and out and the small screen was rather less than useless – the floor got so wet
Had breakfast at Chicanes (not included in the room rate) and was very poor for the money. Wish we had headed into a café in Bathurst. The avocado “smash” was dark green puree – more like you get out of a jar of baby food – no pleasant to eat. Coffee was only available in take out cups because “they didn’t have the staff to wash the ceramics”. $8 for a glass of juice that was not even fresh!
Overall was not quite like the pictures and is very dated and in need of a refresh but reasonable for the price we paid. Would consider returning for a future trip."

Dear Nice2Know2, Thanks for your review, I have taken on board your comments & will share with team to ensure that we are getting the small things right! May I recommend on your next visit that you book a deluxe spa suite, these rooms are located on levels 4, 5 & 6 have a walk in shower & a free standing spa bath & on levels 5&6 the balconies are individual to each room. I have queried the $8 glass for juice & our current prices are between $4.50 - $5 per glass, so I am a little unsure of what happened here & would be happy to refund/credit the difference upon receipt. We are doing coffees in takeaways as the majority of our guests are happy with this as they are a single use item. Again thank you for your feedback. Kind regards, Shawn

Do the 2 bedroom apartments have a washing machine or is there a guest laundry on site to do your own washing?

Good morning no washing machine in our 2 bed unit . I don’t even remember seeing a guest laundry. Good question best to ring Rydges direct to check . A number hotels unfortunately want you to use their laundry service which is always overpriced. I know Bathurst has a laundromat. The units with the balcony overlooking the track are very large and spacious. The balcony has a great view of the track and great to out on to enjoy a cuppa or something stronger

To get accommodation at Rydges during race times you need to register with their email updates specific to race times. Then you can go on a waiting list. People who have the rooms during race times get a right of refusal period, then the general public have the option to book, and you get an email. During October, we camp. Register here: via the V8 supercars website in the Bathurst Section, because more campsites will be offered in August.

The rooms are very expensive - but what man wouldn't pay for that view!. As far as I know, you register with the hotel for the dates of Bathurst, then your name 'goes in a hat'. If you're lucky enough, you get drawn.
