Hip, funky little pub in the back streets of Cooks Hill can't believe we haven't found this sooner. Had dinner with friends (pizza) and all was great. Pizzas were excellent, service was quick and staff were friendly and efficient.... will be making this our new "go to" after work.

I advise people very vigorously to not patronize this hotel which employs staff in their attached pizza restaurant who behave in an offensive and contemptuous manner toward customers. I’m not local but randomly wandered past this evening and decided to order a pizza to take away. I was sitting close to the counter, waiting patiently, reading, as I heard everyone...

Room was really nice considering the price, the staff were lovely and happy to help. The only problem was that the noise from the pub downstairs echoes up stairs and that the charger we left behind was stolen by the cleaning ladies the next day. It is really close to the Newcastle cbd so everything is walking distance!

When you stay in pubs you really don't expext much, but lately I have had some great stays. The Oriental is a delightful pub in popular Cooks Hill, Newcastle. It was Trivia Night so the crowd were having fun and enjoying the best pizza's in Newcastle - cooked fresh on site and some very original pizza. The room has been...

Given the vast amount of venues that spruik and offer pizza (both Italian, pub, cafe etc) and considering all this place serves; is pizza, and nothing else - it could have been a whole lot better. Pizzas tasted ok but the ingredients had a very budget look feel and taste to them, very greasy and just not up to the...

The room itself was perfectly fine, clean and simple. The staff were friendly the only big issue we had was the lack of blankets or heaters. The rooms was beyond cold as it is winter and they only give a very thin blanket and our room didn't have a heater. We asked for extra blankets, which they kindly bought us...

The hotel was generally good with its cleanliness, room and value. It was a bit inconvenient to have the check in at 3pm and the hotel owner is only there from then until the closure of the bar. On the night I stay I had one of the most frightening experience I have ever had at a hotel. It started...

Great value for only $69 per night. The location was fantastic, being close to Darby Street and there is a shopping centre nearby. For what you pay, and especially in Newcastle, where there isn't much budget accommodation, it's a good deal. We read reviews that it gets a bit noisy on the weekends, but as it was a Monday night,...

My stay was pretty terrible. I didn't expect luxury for a budget stay, by myself, on business, and looking to save a few dollars. But still... the shared bathroom was grubby and 'unloved', so too the shared kitchen. The young guy behind the bar was not open to discussion in any nuanced or caring professional way. The room was drab,...
