This is a really quirky hostel - it feels like an english mansion. They had a nice free BBQ on australia day, and have a TV and were showing the Australian open which was nice. It feels worn-in but in a nice way, although could use a little extra cleaning in the bathroom. There are lockers for each individual in...

I stay in this hostel for 1 night in a shared room with 4 bed (two double deck bed). The building looks like a traditional old one but inside is amazing looks like a mansion in classic movie. They have curb staircase in the middle of the house. Rooms arrangement is very interesting. The big lounge area with pool table and...

Hi abroadero We are really pleased you enjoyed your stay. Our hostel is in an unusual building - it used to be a gentleman's club! We've tried to keep the atmosphere with the big lounge room and that grand staircase, so glad you liked it. Hope to see you in another YHA in Australia soon.

Great little hostel for the price point. Rooms and bathrooms were clean, front desk staff was friendly and great with recommending spots to see and place to eat. Free use of surfboards and body boards. Barbeques and pizza nights held throughout the week. Free use of storage room for bags after check out. For just over $30 a night, I...

Stayed at the yha Newcastle beach for one night. Great hostel, clean, helpful and friendly staff. Close to beach and local amenities. Good, clean and well equipped kitchen. Arrived in the morning and asked if I could leave my bags there until I checked in and this was permitted and storage was free. Would definitely recommend.

We stayed one night in the hostel in a 4 beds room just for 2 of us, so we didn't have to share with anyone. Very friendly staff, it's clean, huge kitchen, living room... the location is great. 100% recommendable!

This was one of the best hostels we've stayed at so far. The people are super friendly and the staff is really helpful. There are all types of activities suggested and most of them are for very cheap, which is nice when you're on a tight budget. The facilities are clean and there are people of all ages so it...

I stayed here for 4 nights as a stop off on my journey from Sydney to Coffs Harbour. The hostel is very similar to other YHAs. The common room has the standard brown leather sofas and armchairs, most of which are in need of replacing. I stayed in a 4 bed dorm. The size was more than adequate. Each person...

Nice hostel in a great location. The receptionist was very helpful and even let me borrow some washing powder for free! I stayed in a 4-bed mixed dorm, which was relatively pleasant except for the fact that there was no air conditioning. Would recommend to anyone looking for somewhere fun, spacious and close to the beach.

The hostel desk man was very informative. Gave advice on where to go for fun, food and drinks. They had a very good common area. Wifi was good! The hostel put on a free dinner at a bar to get people to meet that was fun! Rooms were decent. Showers were clean. Would stay there again!

GOOD: The staff were very friendly & it's close to the beach. BAD: There are NO airconditioners nor fans anywhere in the property, in any room! It is UNBEARABLY HOT during summer. They say that Heritage buildings cannot have holes for airconditioners or fans, but this is rubbish, as lots of heritage buildings have airconditioning. YHA Newcastle just doesn't want...
