Booked through Luxury Escapes, The Lane Retreat suited us perfectly with contactless checkin, spaced out modern, luxurious cabins right in the middle of the Hunter Valley's most beautiful wine country.
The grounds of the retreat are so picturesque, tranquil and relaxing, and we especially enjoyed sitting on our private deck watching the hot air balloons glide by early in the morning, listening to and watching the many species of birdlife around the dam at dawn and dusk, as well as the kangaroo families grazing on the grass. We felt like our stay was much longer than 2 nights.
The gourmet breakfasts were outstanding and very delicious - muesli, individual quiche with relish, fruit & yoghurt on the first morning and on the second morning we enjoyed muesli, a bagel with cream cheese, and fruit & yoghurt.
Included in our package were two wine tastings, one at Emma's Cottage and the other at Bimbadgen - both were fantastic. We also enjoyed a winery credit which we used to buy a wood fired pizza dinner on our arrival, a bottle of sparkling and a late checkout on Sunday.
We had an amazing weekend at The Lane Retreat celebrating my birthday and cannot wait to return to explore more of the region and sample the fine wine and food on offer.

The Lane Retreat is the perfect weekend getaway in the Hunter Valley wine country. The Lane Retreat’s secluded boutique lodging offers the idyllic place for the ultimate Hunter Valley getaway, drawing on its rural surrounds, cozy buildings, ample activities such the Bimbadgen Cellar Door which is only moments away for delicious wine tasting from the renowned award winning Bimbadgen wine cellar.
The pool is a stunning outdoor oasis and the studio retreat rooms are spacious, peaceful and tranquil. With uninterrupted views over vines, fig trees and red volcanic soil to the Barrington ranges, the country location is restorative and relaxing. There are an array of stunning restaurants nearby to choose from including The Lane Retreat’s signature restaurant, Esca which showcases the local Hunter Valley produce.

Thank you Guide58565998824 for sharing your wonderful experience at The Lane Retreat! It sounds like you had the perfect weekend getaway in the Hunter Valley. It's great to hear that you enjoyed your stay, especially your dining experience at Esca along with the delicious wine tasting at our Bimbadgen cellar door. Our sister property at Lovedale called Emma's Cottage also has a cellar door which showcases Alter Wines, maybe you would like to visit there on your next Hunter Valley trip. We hope to welcome you back soon for another amazingly wine country weekend!

As the name suggests it is a retreat....and away from the everyday hustle and bustle is this simply whisper quiet, relaxing retreat. The place is relatively new and the grounds are getting established, however the cabin style accommodation is very modern and extremely well appointed. With the added touches of breakfast provisions for your stay, fluffy dressing gowns and towels for the pool our cabin had unimpeded views of the dam with swans, ducks, all manner of bird-life and wandering kangaroos. Perfect place to domicile while doing a little wine tasting in the Hunter Valley. We would gladly stay there next time in Pokolbin. Quite simply, we loved it.

We had a lovely time at The Lane Retreat. The cabins were very clean and beautiful with a lovely balcony. The breakfast was delicious and different on both mornings. Bed comfy and bathrooms lovely. The only issue was there is no shade for families or get togethers (we were 2 families) around the pool. Just umbrellas under 2 beds. It was very hot and our balconies were in the sun at the same time the pool was in full sun. Definitely need shade at the pool where the table and chairs are. The ice machine at the pool however was a very nice touch. We went to find The Lane Pantry and this is not defined very well. No sign, not clear where to park and not sure of shop entry as it looked like we were entering somebodies house. I wanted to purchase the body wash that was supplied in the rooms but the shop didn't have any.
Overall it was really great and we had a lovely trip. Would recommend especially for couples.

We stayed for two nights and didn’t expect anything different from the other accommodation options around the Hunter. A very peaceful environment and adults around which was even better. We went to have dinner at Esca and we use the shuttle service, which is very convenient. The breakfast provisions were generous and good quality. Housekeeping fast and friendly. We were very satisfied and happy to come back! Bed was very comfy!

What a lovely spot!
We stayed at The Lane Retreat for 2 nights after booking through Luxury Escapes.
The Studio Retreats are really well appointed, spacious and comfortable. The bed was great, and the double shower a bit of luxury.
The breakfast provisions provided were of a fabulous quality and really tasty.
The swimming pool and area was fabulous, would imagine it could get a bit crowded if all studios are booked!
A stay that left us feeling well-rested and relaxed.

We found that The Lane Retreat is a beautiful and peaceful place to stay right in the heart of the wine country.
The Lane Retreat is very new and very clean. The amenities in the room were great and the breakfast was quite tasty.
The view is fabulous and we spent a lot of time just sitting on the deck watching the ducks on the dam and the kangaroos in the paddocks. The backdrop of the Broke Mountains is just stunning.
It is very close to the Hunter Valley Gardens and speciality shops plus the local wineries and cellar doors.
Came home after two nights here feeling totally refreshed.
Highly recommended!

The rooms are well appointed and spotlessly clean. The location and views from the lakefront villas are unbeatable. The service staff were friendly and helpful. The supplied breakfast was good and of high quality. The only negative comment I have is too few tea bags are supplied and not enough milk to enjoy the tea/coffee and the granola supplied. Besides these comments our stay was absolutely fantastic.

Secluded but not too far from great places to eat and drink. Clean and tidy accomodation with the right amount of amenities to suit a short stay. My husband even had a swim as the pool was heated. I was surprised how sound proof the room was considering we had families either side. Breakfast provisions tasty and adequate. Free transport to Bimbagen estate can be arranged. Only down side of our short stay is no reflection on the accomodation however we found there were not a great deal of resturaunts open for dinner mid week. Apparently the area hasn't recovered fully from Covid, all the more reason to visit I guess. We will definitely be back.
