What an amazing accommodation, especially for the price. We were in a Vineyard Studio, which was billed as compact but in fact there was a large bathroom, dining room table, lounge area, super comfy King bed and good sized deck overlooking the vineyards. A toaster, kettle, fridge and even plunger coffee meant we enjoyed a relaxing hassle free stay. On site Italian restaurant was slightly less amazing but very useful(great starters, desserts and wine but very greasy overpriced pasta). Excellent location enabled us to walk to several nearby wineries and not need the car to get around.

This week we spent two nights at Hermitage Lodge celebrating our son's 21st birthday.
The lodge is centrally located and very well priced meaning staying two nights and paying for two rooms wasn't a problem. From check in to check out, the staff were friendly and helpful.
The rooms are spacious, ours had spa baths . The continental breakfast was generous and made up of quality ingredients. The thick and luscious vanilla yoghurt with fruit coulis was a particular favourite. There was also muesli, English muffins, coffee and juice. The jams and dairy were all Australian brands.
The bed was comfy and there is a reasonably priced mini bar. Ice is available from the restaurant.
Having Il Cacciatore on site meant no need to go in search of dinner as we ate in one night and had take away in our rooms the next.
Our room was missing a clock radio so hubby pointed out.
Highly recommend Hermitage Lodge and will definitely stay there next time we venture to the Hunter Valley.

+1
We stayed a night in the Bimbadgen Studio, we found it to be a lovely relaxing space, with everything we could have needed, it’s definitely a four star property. A super central location with a great Italian restaurant on site. For those inclined the restaurant offers a $30 ‘Italian Bottomless’ Brunch & Bubbles is a great option to start the day. It’s a bottomless drinks from 0930 to 1145. Then head out for a tour of the wineries! And btw, the breakfast is awesome, not your average fare.

If you are visiting Hunter Valley, please AVOID HERMITAGE LODGE for the following reasons:
We went for a great holiday getaway and only because the stay wasn't up to the mark compared to the high price we paid, it was not a great holiday.
1) The booking includes continental breakfast (which is a big letdown, granola was off), there was a discrepancy of information as we were not told that ordering a fresh breakfast is paid.
2) The AC wasn't working and nothing was done to fix it, when I reported it, they refused to accept
3) Smart TV doesn't work in all the rooms, again the property refused to accept it
4) Ants all around the balcony
This accommodation for a studio is not even worth 100$ of your money and time. The staff is so unprofessional that they don't accept their mistakes.

Response from Noreen Gottaas, Owner at Hermitage Lodge

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. You booked your accommodation through a third party website. More often than not guests who choose to book on third party website don't take the time to read all the information provided, or the third party chooses not to display all the information provided by the hotel. We are very diligent to provide accurate information to all third party sites. The information on the breakfast is listed a number of times, the contents of the breakfast is also listed on the website you booked through. The cooked breakfast form lists the price as does the information on the third party website however as you didn't fill out a breakfast form, you just phoned down your order, you may have missed this information. I'm not sure what hotel would cook a room service hot breakfast for free. There was absolutely NO discrepancy in any of the breakfast information. You had trouble with your TV and air conditioner because there was an ‘emergency service power outage’ for 4 hours on Saturday afternoon and evening which affected 100 properties, totally out of our control. Often when Ausgrid turns the electricity back on, many electrical appliances need reprogramming. I believe a manager came to your room when the air conditioner was not working and when you said you were cold, you were provided with a heater. The air conditioner was reprogrammed the next day. With regards to the SMART TV's, they are all new and all work when the power is on however if you are not familiar with SMART TVS and decide to press a whole bunch of buttons then this too needs to be reprogrammed. I don't believe you asked for any assistance with your TV. With regards to the ants on the balcony, we are in a regional area and we do have ants as well as birds, kangaroos and lizards, we can work on controlling the ants if they are inside however the ants outside are the least of our worries. If find your comments regarding the unprofessional staff highly offensive. At the end of the day maybe this hotel wasn't for you.

I was very impressed with their outstanding custom service from checked in staff to house keeping and not to mentioned how friendly the staffs on the I was checked out, super clean for some one a super clean freak like me, spacious room where you can’t find any other places nearby with the price they offer (I’ve been travelling since I was 17 yo and always like to have big room that I can breathe without feeling like stuck in a cubicle), stunning view at the verandah that make you feel so relax yet amazed the way they designed the landscape, beautiful restaurant onsite with 5stars customer service and excellent foods. Please take your time to see my pics and video before you decide to other places, it’s highly recommended place to visit. I would definitely give 10stars if trip advisor has it as Hermitage Logde deserves it and definitely going back!!!!

We stayed here mid week in the spa loft room. Spa was big enough for two and water lovely and hot . Facilities very clean but older. Bed was king size and very comfortable! The cooked breakfast absolutely worth the $ 20 !!! Had dinner in the restaurant and was not disappointed!!! Absolutely delicious !!!!

My wife and I stayed at the Hermitage Lodge for a couple of nights. There are a range of rooms and suites. We stayed in one of the studios with a king bed and were entirely satisfied with our choice. The biggest surprise was the restaurant next door which turned out to be great! I have written a separate review of it (Il Cacciatore), and Italian restaurant that was voted among the top two in Australia.
The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, giving us useful advice on good cellar doors to visit, as well as noting other things to do and see.
The room was generous in size, and comfortable for (we had a king bed). We enjoyed sitting out on the (private) deck for a leisurely breakfast overlooking the vineyard. Perfect.

Stayed in a Vineyard Suite, fantastic. The rooms in our suite were spotless, clean and tidy without a spec of dust or dirt anywhere. The gas fire was great on a dull wet day, a joy to site and read in front of after a morning visiting the sites around Pokolbin. The bed and pillows were very comfortable contributing to a great nights sleep. The continental breakfast provided was 10 out of 10, muesli, fruit juice, yogurt, English muffins and condiments. All top shelf!!! Had a great dinner in the restaurant, the food service and ambiance as good as you will find anywhere. The front office, and restaurant staff were great. We only travelled up from Lake Macquarie for a short break, one does not have to travel anywhere further for a great time, right on our doorstep.

I highly recommend the premier suite for couples looking for a romantic getaway. The split level suite has a lovely 'fireplace' heater downstairs which creates a perfect ambiance. But the show stopper is the outdoor jacuzzi overlooking the vineyard on the first floor.

Charlotte M asked a question Jan 2018
Kingston-upon-Hull, United Kingdom168 contributions34 helpful votesHi, I just wondered how far away the nearest winery is and whether it is in walking distance. Any recommendations for places to eat / visit would be great too. We will have a car but for the wine tasting we would rather both be able to enjoy it! Many thanks
Winery over road but to get to nice quaint independent ones bikes or car. Restaurant at hermitage is excellent italian but book online before as it gets busy. Superior rooms have kitchen and jacuzzi!
Thank you for your question. The restaurant is not open for breakfast. Our accommodation provides a continental breakfast which is stocked in the room (delicious yogurt, homemade muesli, english muffins, juice and a selection of teas and coffees). All rooms have tables and chairs on their decks which overlook our vineyard.
"Plenty of parking. There is a pool, and the Pescara Italian restaurant is on site."Read full review
