Stayed for 2 nights Friday and Saturday Fine basic accommodation - bed comfy and clean facilities Not a lot of common space as some hostels- but after 5 the bar opens and live bands. Obviously sleeping before midnight when music turned right down is not possible :) After that still some talking and noise. Personally o can fall asleep easily...

I've stayed here now for the past two year for a guys trip away for the races. Both times Lil looked after us and made sure we had everything we needed. Very accommodating with a large group and fully understands that we had add on and drop outs. Great atmosphere in the Bar downstairs. Will happily come back again in...

I have been attending Ballarat Swap meet since 1994 with the exception of 2015 yes 20 annual trips in a row. Please bear with me as I'm going to write a small history of my stays in Ballarat. The first year that we went we thought that we could just rock up to Ballarat on a Saturday lunch time, walk...

I stayed at Ballarat Backpackers with a large group of golfers and found the facilities to be exactly what we needed. The rooms were comfortable, clean and well set out. The manager Lil was very helpful and forgiving for the inflexibilities that come with a large group, as we constantly had new inclusions and exclusions. Will definitely return to stay...

We were travelling back from a day in the Grampians to Melbourne and thought Ballarat was a perfect location for a pit stop overnight. We arrived at the hostel without a reservation but the owner was very happy to assist and we were promptly shown to our room and given information about local area. It cost 100 bucks for three...

We had our netball trip in Ballarat this year, the backpackers was great for a large group of people, facilities were perfect for what we needed and the location was an easy walk into town! The owners were great to work with and everyone really enjoyed their stay! Thanks for the hospitality!

I was in town for work when I stayed at the Eastern. It's a small hostel above a pub with good facilites and is reasonably priced. I stayed in a queen private room which had plenty of space. Lil(manager) was pleasant and very easy to deal with.

This hostel is nice, with very good facilities. Bathroom is clean and tidy, as were the bedrooms and the kitchen area. However, there was a live band in the bar when I stayed there on a friday night and it sounded like they were in my room, they were that loud. If I hadn't taken ear plugs and I wasn't...

Ballarat Backpackers Hostel 81 Humffray St Nth, Ballarat, Victoria 3350, Australia Best budget accommodation in Ballarat. Very centrally located, close to the main street and great value for the price. Darren and Lil are excellent hosts and they care about providing good budget accommodation. Met some good characters there into the bargain. Would stay again again any time. Highly recommended....
