I contacted Albatros Backpackers 2 days prior to my arrival and luckily they still had a free bed for me. The reservation was really friendly as was the reception once I got there. The bed was very clean but the mattress wasn't in the best shape. everyone in our 8-bed-room was very quiet once they came in. The kitchen and...

This is a great hostel run by two people that are obviously passionate about what they do and incredibly professional. It's busy and the communal space is cosy but a great space, it's clean and tidy with a heavy musical theme. Ideal for travellers

This hostel is lovely, you almost feel at home here and Katie was really welcoming and very bubbly :) however, we had a room right next to the toilet and near outside and we got NO sleep both nights we stayed. It's not even the hostel problem but writing this review to let people know if you stay here, request...

It is a family-owned, cute little hostel with a great atmosphere! A lot of free stuff, e.g. guiars, ukuleles, colour for painting, herbs and spices, games, bikes, ... The rooms were big and everything was clean!

Ben, the host was very welcoming and laid back. We were shown the facilities and taken to our room, which was basic but clean and suited our requirements. It was a very relaxed environment. We borrowed the bikes which got us out to the point to do some walking on the peninsula. We enjoyed the pancakes on Sunday morning prepared...

This backpacker provided the worst accommodation experience in my life. On arrival we were told that our 7-year old daughter is not allowed to stay. A 'minor detail' that had deserved a one-line mention on the website and a short note at the bottom of a very long confirmation email (I had not seen it obviously!). We were turned away...

This is a warm and comfy feeling backpackers. It is relaxed and all the usual do's and don'ts aren't there. Commonsense is encouraged and it does seem to work. Prices are fair for what you receive. Ben and Kylie make everyone feel welcome. We would stay again.

We could not sleep There because we were drinking just a beer outside with friends even not in the garden but in the other side of the road. The host called the police secretly... After that he ask us to leave the backpacker at 00h00. The worse welcoming ever!

This place is in a great location minutes walk to the town . The facilities are good. Kitchen well functioning and has everything you need. Room small but clean. Pity ablutions being redone in peak season. Lots of interesting things in lounge room area arty/musical artefacts...nice vibe.

Pretty funky backpackers in a great location for dolphin encounter. No free WiFi which was disappointing. Communal area was okay. The owner was a bit standoffish. Can find worse and better places in kaikoura.
