Decided to spend New Year's eve in Kaikoura and had always wanted to stay here. My friend and I chose the "easy access room" that has a larger bathroom and heaps of space in the shower. It was a downstairs unit (105) which afforded the...More
Location of the motel is just across the street from Kaikoura beach (which is however not suitable for swimming, quite
rocky). Clean rooms, enough space. Kitchenette equipped with a fridge, microwave and cooker. Very nice and pleasant owner. The only down side was no WiFi.

The Whale watch office is at the Kaikoura Railway Stn approx. 2.8km to the north of the Panorama Motel. Think you have to check into the Whale Watch office before your tour starts and they run a transfer bus from there to the South Bay jetty where the boats leave from. South Bay is approx. 4.5km to the south (over the hill) from the Panorama Motel. Whale watch is fantastic but just as amazing is the swimming with the Dolphins!
