Nestled in a picturesque setting, Elk Ridge Resort is often described as enchanting with its seasonal decor and illuminated outdoor spaces, despite an occasionally unwelcoming lobby. While reviews of the service are mixed, citing both friendly staff and instances of disorganization, cleanliness generally earns high marks. Guests have pointed out the resort's value, noting reasonable rates alongside some criticism for outdated rooms and additional fees. The amenities, including family activities and natural beauty, are frequently praised, although there's room for improvement. Room experiences vary, with some boasting hot tubs and modernity, and others feeling a bit dated.

Elk Ridge Resort is in a beautiful location, and the lodge sports good sized rooms. My stay was pleasant enough but not because of the services I received. Desk staff were adequate but not very interested in helping me with questions when I first made my reservation. Room service was nonexistent and no one tidied or resupplied my room after the first night. Meals in the restaurants (Wyld and Frederick) were good but not quite good enough for what they were charging. I would have appreciated seeing more local game and foraged vegetables on the menu to celebrate the wild surroundings. A limited wine selection was made worse because some items were out of stock all together! Wifi worked in my room for my laptop but not on my iPhone for some reason (no problem connecting, it just wouldn't load anything unless I switched back to using data plan). Finally, there were no instructions on using any of the equipment in the room including the complicated TV with extra remotes. I finally had to call someone to my room to help and even he struggled.

I know this is a difficult time for the hospitality industry and hope the Elk Ridge can soon start living up to its 4-star status again. It has a great deal of potential but isn't living up to it right now.

Hello 271geoffreya, First, I want to apologize for the delay in responding to your review. We've actually only recently re-acquired ownership of our TripAdvisor account, from the previous ownership. Now we can finally engage with all of our reviewers! I also wanted to thank you for taking the time to write this review, and for the added detail. While we continuously striving to meet our customer’s expectations at every level, when things do go wrong, we see it as an opportunity for learning, to improve upon our processes, products and services, and to hear from our customers at a deeper level, so the extra information really helps. The fact that you took the time to write a review in the first place, tells us that you’re a passionate consumer, and your three-star review tells us that you are a fervent supporter of the high-quality products and services that Elk Ridge Resort should consistently offer, to all of our guests, every time they visit us. And while it sounds like there were elements of your stay with us that were great, there were obviously some misses as well, and we have some work to do. Our Management and Staff in all departments are working incredibly hard right now, in some unbelievably challenging times. There are numerous areas we’re working to make improvements, and I can assure you we take this VERY seriously. We’re asking for everyone’s patience, understanding, and continued support as we all navigate these challenges together. We have a number of internal initiatives in development, and we’re hopeful to have all of our service lines optimized very soon. A friend and I decided to do a quick, one night trip to Elk Ridge June 12-13. We have stayed at the resort several times under the previous owners and were excited to check out the changes. The drive into the resort was beautiful as always. The building is grand, grounds are impeccable, and the golf course looked to be in great shape. We stopped for lunch at the Wyld and both thoroughly enjoyed our elk burgers. At 1pm we stopped by the front desk to ask for an early check-in, but were told the room was not ready. The staff member said they would call when it was, but we had not yet received that call upon arriving back at the resort at 4:45 (check-in is 4pm). We checked into our two queens, pond view room and were pleased with the renovations. We both took advantage of Drift spa; my friend enjoyed a 60 minute relaxation massage and I was very impressed with the 60 minute facial. We both felt these services were comparable in quality and price to our favourite spas. A walk around the pond was followed by a 45 minute time slot at the pool. The salt water is such a wonderful feature and the water slide continues to be surprisingly fast and fun! After our swim we retired to our room to relax. The deck is a lovely spot to read a book and enjoy the view, the beds and pillows are extremely comfortable, and there is a decent selection of channels on the tv. We contacted the front desk twice that evening, the first to ask for fresh cream to use in our coffee in the morning and the second time to ask again for cream and for the hair dryer that was missing from our room. Unfortunately neither of these items were delivered that night. What began as a restful night was unfortunately interrupted when we were awaken at 4am by a very loud gentleman in the hallway who decided to yell every word he spoke for approximately 20 minutes. When it was finally quiet, I found it difficult to fall back asleep as the room was quite bright due to the lack of room darkening curtains. Later that morning I went to the front desk to request cream (for the third time!) and this time it did get delivered to our room and we were able to enjoy our in room coffees. We checked out at 10am and went for breakfast at Fredrich, as the Wyld did not open until 11am. We both ordered the frittata, which we found small and under seasoned. The sourdough toast was tasty and I would have loved more of that! For $330 for one night, we feel the customer service and food at Fredrich need to be improved upon. If hosting events like weddings and graduation celebrations, you must have staff on at all times that are able to handle rowdy guests. Although the resort is beautiful and we did enjoy many things like our meal at the Wyld, our spa treatments, and the pool, our expectations for Saskatchewan's premier all season resort were not met and we likely won’t return until some of these kinks have been worked out.

My wife and I spent two nights at Elk Ridge Lodge as a short get-away from home without having to drive too far. We had a wonderful stay. Our room was the Signature Room, which was on the main level facing the parking lot. Given the time of year, we had beautiful sunshine in our room for part of the afternoon. The room had a king size bed, which was very comfortable. The bathroom was large, clean and nicely arranged. It has a separate large stall shower and a deep bathtub (which we did not use on this stay). Pleasant sitting area in front of a gas fireplace, which we used for enjoying a beverage before dinner. Our only issue with the room is that it was too hot, and we could not seem to get the heat adjusted to a good level for sleeping (comfortable otherwise). We did have one dinner at Frederik's. We enjoyed the dinner. My wife had a wonderful chicken dish while I had the bison tenderloin Wellington. My only complaint is that the pastry crust had a coating of coarse salt; too much salt for me! Good service. Of course, as Elk Ridge is beside Prince Albert National Park, we did enjoy a couple of hikes in the park as part of our stay. We will definitely be back for another visit!!!

In general I don't mind paying a higher price for better service or quality but I absolutely hate paying a 5 star rate where 1 star fees are due...

It started off very well with quick and painless booking of the cabin. Upon arrival the staff was really efficient and quickly helped us to settle in and also to explain what and where all the on-site amenities are, this part was 5 star.

Upon arrival at the cabin is where it all began. Leaving home in the morning it was -37'C and at the resort it was about 10'C warmer when we arrived. We have a baby boy that's just under 6 weeks old so obviously we don't want to mess around outside in those temperatures. So, I parked our vehicle at the very convenient parking right next to the side entrance door of the cabin only to find out the door does not unlock from outside with the key so we walked around and went into the cabin through the front door. The cabin was freezing cold inside so we cranked up the heat that didn't seem to warm up the cabin as quickly as I would thought it would. I also noticed that 2 of the lights were not working. The window in the main bedroom wasn't closed letting alot if cold air into the room. The front door also couldn't close properly so the weather seal didn't work and that is the source of all the cold air coming into the cabin. It actually looked like someone broke into the cabin with all the damage to the screens and blinds. The towels and linen also seemed well used and in need for replacement. We found long hair in our bed and on the couch that makes me wonder about cleanliness as well. Unless I missed it, I did not see a key drop box Normally I would not be as critical with a review but I feel that this time we were overcharged.

My suggestion would be to get someone doing quality control and ensuring that guests get what the pay for, that everything is in working order and just going that extra mile like checking if the cabin or room where guests are checking in are warm especially when it's that cold outside. That's what you'd expect from a world class facility like Elk Ridge.

We held our daughter’s wedding at Elkridge Resort, staying for a long weekend which turned out amazing. The bride and groom’s families rented cabins side by side and it was like a family reunion as we were able to spend so much time together. The bridal party stayed the whole weekend too which made for a perfect bachelor/bachelorette party that lasted for days. On the wedding day the girls could get ready together in their cabin which was a short walk to the Pond Patio where the wedding took place. Our guests entered through the Lodge (very classy lobby) and stepped outside onto a second story veranda overlooking the ceremony site. This view is breathtaking as you take in the boreal forest surrounding a large pond. At the edge of the water is a stone patio where the bride and groom’s back drop is this beautiful natural setting. Classy white wooden chairs are provided to build your decorating around which really is unnecessary as the setting is perfect. Our daughter also walked down the long staircase from this veranda to meet her groom. Many of the guests commented on how romantic the whole experience was to be a part of. The reception was held in the Pavilion which is an old carriage house with open beams and windows all around. Once the tables are set up, the setting sun streaming in, and mini lights on the ceiling turned on, this space transforms into another romantic venue that can’t be beat. After a top notch dinner, we danced till dark on the patio outside… still taking in that gorgeous sun as it set over the spruce trees. We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful place to give our daughter away. After this most special weekend together, this couples families are friends 💕

Our family stayed at Elk Ridge Resort Lodge Room 213 on August 11 & 12 for two nights. There was no water in the toilet tank most of the time, and we had to used the recycle bin to get water and flush the toilet. We believe that the water supply valve was turned to the open position and there was no water leaks on supply line, because we were able to flush the toilet once a day but only once! There was no problem with the water supply to the bathroom tap or shower. I reported this issue when we checked out, and all I was told was "Thanks for letting us know".

My family and I recently stayed at Elk Ridge for 5 nights and it was amazing! We have 2 kids ages 7 & 8 and it was the perfect family vacation. There was sledding and awesome trails with warm up shacks (you can even rent one if you don’t own), they provided snow shoes, cross country skis, and even skates if you didn’t have any at no charge. The trails for hiking and skiing/snow shoes we’re so beautiful. So many big trees that there wasn’t a breathe of wind while we were there. We also loved the pool with a huge hot tub while the kids enjoyed the slide, the restaurants food was delicious and the skating “pond” was huge with fire pits and wood so you could roast hot dogs or marshmallows while you skated. They had a warm place to get ready for skating and good music playing each day, staff was friendly, the cabins were so cute. Right in the Centre of the cabins were was a snow hill for the kids to toboggan down and a play ground which our kids used daily and we could watch them out the front window. They also had a larger hill by the lodge. We didn’t get a chance to try the outdoor curling but will next trip. The cabins had a fireplace which was so nice after being out all day and the kitchens were well equipped with dishes, cutlery, knives, etc which made packing a lot easier. They even supplied dish soap, paper towel,Toilet paper and a pot of coffee a day that was actually really good. We even got to meet one of the owners while there and they’re the loveliest couple from small town Saskatchewan. We will definitely be back. Our whole family had a great time.

My partner and I stayed at Elk Ridge Lodge on a Wednesday and Thursday for a friends wedding.

The room was great; it had a balcony which faced the pond, it was clean and had lots of plug ins and spots to hang bags/coats, etc. The bed was comfortable.

I am a vegan due to a dairy allergy and i don’t eat meat because that is a dietary choice I have made. I asked if the lodge had any dairy free options for the coffee at the continental breakfast. I was told no and they did not suggest where I could go to find a coffee shop that offered non dairy products.

An hour prior to the wedding ceremony I went to the front to ask for an iron. The lodge was not busy with people checking in/out when I made my request. The iron was never brought up to our room. I ended up trying to steam the wrinkles out of my dress but that resulted in a damp dress.

The Elk Ridge Lodge is not a ‘cheap’ motel. I expected good service and dietary options. I was quite disappointed.

To top it off, my meal at the reception was served 15 minutes after the other guests received theirs.

If you are planning to stay in the lodge and you have dietary restrictions, bring your own food.

We took our family ages 7 to 62 to Eldridge for 2 nights. We had a great time in a 3 bedroom Town House. There are cross country skis, skates and snow shoes to use included with the resort fee, if you don’t have your own to bring. The salt water pool and the hot tub in the main building were great too. The most beautiful cross country ski trails we have ever seen, with shorter or longer loops to choose from. We rebooked for next year before leaving. We did not eat at the restaurant.

I booked a cottage for 10 people last weekend. The resort is difficult to reach by phone, nearly every call I made was put immediately on hold until I eventually gave up and hung up, so I recommend sending emails instead of phoning. They were prompt to answer emails.

The roads and driveways of the cottages did not appear to be cleared of snow at all and we were lucky that we had vehicles with 4 wheel drive because a car likely would not have made it in. It might be a good idea to let guests know prior to arrival in the future if a smaller vehicle would be able to make it to the cottage as it could be an accessibility issue.

The cottage itself was beautiful and clean and the beds were comfortable. There was not quite enough extra bedding for the fold out beds so I am glad that I had packed extras (mainly comforters). We requested a few extra towels and they were delivered in a very timely manner which was appreciated.

A few days before our reservation I had called to book an hour of pool time. The day of the reservation I called to confirm the time and was told that they had no record of the time I had previously booked, but told us that there was another hour that was wide open and we could go then. When we arrived at that time, we were in the pool for a few minutes before two more large groups of people arrived. We didn't mind sharing the space, but if the reason behind booking time slots in the pool was for covid precautions it wasn't great to have three bigger groups in the pool at the same time.

We had a fantastic meal at The Wyld, the food and service was great. The Elk Burger and caesars were perfect.

I am sad to be leaving a lower rating because I think that Elk Ridge is beautiful and has plenty of wonderful services and potential, it just missed the mark for us that weekend.
