A group of four - we spent an afternoon at The Duke enjoying what turned out to be a very long lunch. Great food starting with the generous platter which easily served four as a starter, great wine and friendly staff who were happy to help us enjoy a wonderful day.

Russell is a little gem in the beautiful Bay of Islands - a really cute little place to stay. The Duke of Marlborough is incredible - right on the beach and 30 seconds walk to the wharf for all the boat trips. Wherever you stay here you'll be near the beach but being directly on it is great, especially to...

This is a beautiful old pub in a very quaint snd beautiful setting. I was there 12 months ago and had the slow roasted lamb dinner for 2. It was beautifully cooked and very tasty. Our desserts were equally yummy. I visited again last night and my husband had a lovely steak dinner. My risotto was bland and very unappetising....

Love the atmosphere and great service. Went with a big group of 50 Garden Club members. Everybody agreed the food was good, although I was still hungry after having consumed my choice of calamari rings.I tried to get an extra dessert but was turned down. And I am a slight woman of 5 feet. To be fair I don't know...

I enjoyed a lovely flight of New Zealand wines along side delicious oysters, as we looked out over the Bay. A wonderful spot for lunch or dinner, and take some time to look at all the historic photos around the building.

We met a friend here for dinner, taking the ferry across from Paihia. It is a lovely spot on a cold winters night and the view from the windows is beautiful. There was a fire with comfortable soft seating around it- great for an after dinner port. The staff are friendly and attentive. The wine list excellent and the menu...

Fun ambiance and delicious food. Attentive waitstaff. People of all ages there from families to elderly. It's very fun to be in the first hotel to open in New Zealand. You can imagine the atmosphere in the late 1800s from the decor and photos.

We dined casually for lunch. Absolutely superb. Generous meal sizes and gorgesouly tasty. (Spelling?) Excellent wait staff who knew exactly what each meal breakdown was; and the best drinks to support them. Comfortable seating with interesting decor. Warm fire on the inside. Well done
